How would you describe a girl named

[name]How[/name] would you describe a girl named [name]Johanna[/name]? I don’t know anybody by this name, and I’m curious how people perceive it. If you’ve read “The Hunger Games” (which I have not), do you associate the name with character from that series? Is that good or bad? I’d love your input. Thanks!

I haven’t read The Hunger Games. To me, she seems quiet and smart. Someone who comes more alive around her friends/family.

Edit: Also reminds me of the bird-like girl from Sweeney Todd

I have read the Hunger Games but I know a [name]Johanna[/name] so I associate it with her. It’s nowhere near as obvious as [name]Katniss[/name].

The [name]Johanna[/name] I know is OK, she has a very good sense of humour and always wears dresses.

Sturdy, reliable, and smart. At least the one I know.

I have read the Hunger Games but [name]Johanna[/name] is not a name I associate with the book, even though I’m familiar with the character.

I know a [name]Johanna[/name], my best friends older sister. She’s an intelligent and attractive woman who takes her work seriously, but boy does she know how to have fun!

I’ve read the Hunger Games but [name]Johanna[/name] is definitely not a name I’d associate with the books. I know a few Johannas (most go by [name]Jo[/name]) and I think [name]Jo[/name] is spiky and fun, but [name]Johanna[/name] is a bit quieter, sweeter, but still mischievous.

I like [name]Johanna[/name]! I do associate it with THG, a little. She was… lol, not my favorite character, but there are redeeming qualities to her. TBH, though, I don’t really associate [name]Johanna[/name] with The Hunger Games, just like everyone else. It stands on its own two feet. When I think of [name]Johanna[/name], I think of my dad and brother, since I’d always planned on using it to honor them. It sounds smart, cultured, European. I doubt [name]Johanna[/name] will be pegged as a HG name to most. It’s just a really great name.

Thanks for your opinions, everyone. I think I tend to perceive [name]Johanna[/name] the way most of you do. And I’m very glad to learn that it’s not too closely associated with “The Hunger Games.” Thanks again for your help.

I wouldn’t immediately think of the Hunger Games when I heard the name [name]Johanna[/name].

I think of the Duggars because they have a daughter named [name]Johanna[/name]. So I think of a studious, polite, religious young girl.

Amish/Pentacostal/Duggar [name]One[/name] of the Duggars kids is named [name]Johanna[/name], so that’s what I think of. I much prefer [name]Hannah[/name].

I’m a [name]Joanne[/name] and I wanted to be called [name]Johanna[/name] as there were so many other [name]Joannes[/name] around and I always found the name soo boring! Loved the difference of [name]Johanna[/name]!

Smart, sweet, shy. [name]Haven[/name]'t read Hunger Games.

I’ve read the Hunger Games and i think its fine. I wouldn’t think of thg unless someone pointed it out.

I knew a [name]Jovanna[/name], which is very close. She too always wore dresses, was sweet, and funny. Was a cheerleader but not the mean kind. She was in band, chior, and student counvel as well. I heard as she got older she went a little wild, but i ran into her recently and either it isn’t true, or she got over it already. Lol

[name]Johanna[/name] is a good character, but she is a minor character, although and important one. It isn’t the first name that comes to mind when thinking about The Hunger Games.
To be honest, I don’t care for the name. [name]Joanna[/name] or [name]Hannah[/name] are better. [name]Johanna[/name] seems strange to me, and since the male name [name]Johann[/name] is pronounced Yohann, I would think [name]Johanna[/name] should be pronounced [name]Yohanna[/name].

I think of The Hunger Games because I just read it, but also I think of Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir, Iceland’s first female Prime Minister, which I think is a pretty cool association to have.

I think it’s a lovely name.

[name]Johanna[/name] has an earthy feel to me, someone all natural, down to earth and cheerful.

Yep. This. It totally makes me think of an Amish girl.

I’d picture her as a sweet, mischievous girl.

Honestly, I picture a woman who is masculine. [name]One[/name] of the guys. Maybe it’s the most common nick name, [name]Jo[/name], that makes me perceive “her” as this way.
