[name]How[/name] would you describe a girl named one of the following names if you had never met her. What preconceptions would you have? Positive or negative?
I don’t like the name [name]Harper[/name]. Sounds like a boy, and reminds me of the name [name]Harpo[/name] from The Color Purple. (like [name]Faith[/name] though)
[name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Grace[/name]: an old fashioned name. I see her as sweet and quiet, a helpful young girl. I can’t see her with the name [name]Adelaide[/name] as a teenager. I think a teen would want a nickname, maybe [name]Addie[/name]/[name]Addy[/name].
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Lily[/name]: Here’s a lovely little girl, full of British/English sweetness & charm. Sounds like the kind of girl who would be considered a good influence, and therefore a welcome choice for your own child to befriend. Children aren’t perfect, but [name]Emmaline[/name] seems like she comes from good parents who teach good manners and sound values. She sounds sweetly down to earth.
[name]Kensington[/name] [name]Rose[/name]: She sounds more upper crust. She sounds pretty and kind, & a sweet girl, but more popular and preppy than [name]Emmaline[/name]. Where [name]Emmaline[/name] is down to earth, [name]Kensington[/name] may be more concerned with popularity with her peers.
[name]Alexandria[/name] [name]Claire[/name]: dark hair. She could very well be a nice girl, but it would be questionable until I met her. Her name makes me think she could be snobby and aloof. She doesn’t sound very down to earth to me; rather money and style matter. She is sophisticated.
It’s very interesting how names conjure images. Of the first names you listed, i haven’t personally known anyone by those names, so there are no associations with actual people being made here…just perceptions that come from out of the blue.
Good luck! I was asking this same thing not long ago about a couple names i was considering!
[name]Harper[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - Nothing stands out about her, she kind of “cruises” through definition. Average in everyway.
[name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - Very sweet girl, thoughtful, kind and caring. A bit mature for her age in a good way. Responsible.
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Lily[/name] - A poetic type of personality, likes reading, and flowers. [name]Calm[/name] but sprightly.
[name]Kensington[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - A spoiled entitled girl who gets put in the centre of attention a lot. Not a bad child, but not the most enjoyable to be around.
[name]Alexandria[/name] [name]Claire[/name] - Energetic, happy child, who enjoys helping other children, and is quick to volunteer her assistance, very fun to spend time with.
[name]Harper[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - I don’t know know why but I picture a little chunky girl with chocolate all over her face. I’m sure that’s hysterical but that’s all I’m getting for it lol
[name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Grace[/name]- [name]Brown[/name] pigtails and glasses. Sort of nerdy but not too much. Very smart and a definite bookworm who loves a good read.
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Lily[/name] - Sweet and quite. Never gets in trouble. Wants to do crafts or color all the time.
[name]Kensington[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - Bratty at times and can be a bit of a diva. Very passionate and driven.
[name]Alexandria[/name] [name]Claire[/name] - Joyous and full of life! The spunk and enthusiasm of a cheerleader. Tons of friends. People love to be around her.
[name]Harper[/name] [name]Faith[/name] - I envision a kind of hipster girl who’s into art and photography.
[name]Adelaide[/name] grace - I envision a quiet and sensitive girl who’s really sweet.
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Lily[/name] - I picture a little girl who’s into princess stuff and the colour pink
[name]Kensington[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - I picture some snooty girl. (Sorry [name]Kensington[/name] kind of sounds snooty to me)
[name]Alexandria[/name] [name]Claire[/name] - I picture a popular girl. She’s not a mean girl, but she rules the school)
