I’ve re-compiled my top 20 list for masc and fem names recently, but I worry my style is disjointed and unappealing. So, can you please answer how many you want of these following questions xx:

  1. How would you describe my style based off the top 20 lists?
  2. What are you favourite/least favourites on my list?
  3. Which ones (if any) do you think are odd ones out, if any, do you think it matters?
  4. You can rate all or some of the names if you want

I would say your tastes are eclectic. Similar to mine which I also feel aren’t the most cohesive. I don’t think it really matters because they’re grow up into their own people, they’ll be more than a “sib-set”. I get wanting them to feel cohesive though, I struggle with it myself :sob:

Thank you! Yeah i def think my boys list is more cohesive, even though I don’t love all the names on it. Good point that they’ll grow into there names. Sometimes it’s hard to realise that very few people dont ‘suit’ their name, it’s their name! From your suggestions, I lovee [name_f]Runa[/name_f], [name_f]Anouk[/name_f], [name_m]Iver[/name_m], [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], [name_m]Ellis[/name_m], Lars… pretty much all of them. Breezy, cool and international, with a touch of quirkiness and a bit of distinctiveness, with a couple of concise classics thrown in.

My favourites are:

Summary

Zosia → a pleasing sound, a stylish feel, and an appealing, international vibe

Oona → magical, mystical and lovely, with a gentle but adventurous feel

Anais → distinctive sounds, fun to say, a hint of quirkiness but refined too

Salome → melodic and cool

Eva → sassy but classic, sweet but strong

Jem → gentle, literary and lovely

Sacha → rugged but gentle with international vibes

Ira → sharp and distinctive with a cool meaning

Shiloh → love the bright, warm sound and the meaning too

Jude → relaxed and charming

My least favourites are:

Summary

Dido → I’m not a fan of either pronunciation and I often misread it…

Clio → love Cleo, but Clio looks squashed up to me

Artem → it’s not bad, but I prefer other similar names, and this just doesn’t flow so neatly in my head

Loic → I always want to say it wrong and I don’t love the actual sound - it reminds me of vegetables :person_shrugging:

These feel a tiny bit out of place:

Summary

Dido → your others are bold but familiar/in use, whereas this doesn’t strike me as such

Alix → more unisex, with a spelling that could be considered ‘creative’

Henry ‘Hal’ → fun more classic and popular?

Do I think it matters? Not really. I can see sets I’d still create out of your lists, with those unexpected choices.

1] International, mystical, elegant and dashing! A lot of them would sound great on a prince or princess in a novel.
2] [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Alix[/name_f], [name_f]Clio[/name_f], [name_f]Liesl[/name_f], [name_m]Sacha[/name_m], [name_m]Beck[/name_m], [name_m]Jem[/name_m], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] & [name_m]Henry[/name_m] are ones I would use either as a first or as a middle; [name_f]Zosia[/name_f], [name_m]Roux[/name_m], [name_m]Lev[/name_m], [name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] and [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] are ones I wouldn’t use but love.

btw, i don’t think common names are ‘boring’ at all, i happen to like mostly more unusual names but i just like what i like! i like a lot of classic names.

  1. I’d say eccentric in a kind of romantic way. Maybe bohemian would be a good way to describe it?

  2. I really like [name_f]Ines[/name_f], [name_f]Roxana[/name_f] “Roxy”, [name_f]Liesl[/name_f], [name_m]Beck[/name_m], and [name_f]Shiloh[/name_f]. Not as huge a fan of [name_f]Soleil[/name_f], [name_m]Loic[/name_m], or [name_m]Lev[/name_m].

  3. [name_m]Roux[/name_m], [name_f]Alix[/name_f], [name_m]Bo[/name_m], [name_m]Jem[/name_m], [name_m]Beck[/name_m], and [name_m]Max[/name_m] feel noticeably a little more edgy-modern than the rest, but I don’t think it matters unless you’re really intent on having a totally consistent aesthetic. And actually, because the ones that stand out have a similar vibe to each other, and there are a few that feel sort of in between styles, I think I might prefer keeping them all in, since they make the whole vibe a little more distinctive.

  1. Your girls style I would describe as operatic. They are all names I could see being used in an [name_f]Opera[/name_f]. Your boys style I would describe as stream lined eastern european.

[name_m]Sacha[/name_m], [name_m]Lazlo[/name_m], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_m]Asa[/name_m], [name_f]Shiloh[/name_f], [name_f]Indra[/name_f], [name_m]Artem[/name_m] (this is new to me and I love it!) Usually i’m not bothered about trying to stick to a consistent style, I like what I like, but it useful to know their is some inconsistency in my list, thank you!
