🐚 How would you honor these 3 people with one name combo?

How would you honor the following three people with a single name combo for both a boy and a girl? I only ask that the names be fairly intuitive and, if the first name is long, there be the possibility of intuitive nicknames. Unfortunately Cᴀɛlᴀn (pronounced KAY-lan) & Kᴀɪlɪn (pronounced KAY-lin) is out as I have a cousin and a cousin’s SIL with the names.

Pᴀmɛlᴀ Kᴀу nn Pᴀm – I would prefer to work with the middle name as I want it to be a subtle honor – I’ve thought of using Kᴀɪ or Kᴀɪᴀ or adding Kᴀ to the beginning of another name to make it a smoosh name.

Lɪndᴀ Kᴀу – I’m fine with using either name, but would love to find a way to use/honor Lɪndᴀ more so than Kᴀy here.

Dorɪs Mᴀrɪɛ – I would prefer to honor Dorɪs here as I’m not a fan of Mᴀrɪɛ and my top alternative, Mᴀrs, is way too close to another honor name, Mᴀrcɛllᴀ Mᴀrthᴀ (I’m looking at using Mᴀrcɛl, Mᴀrcɛllᴀ or Mᴀrcɛllɛ if I use the long form).

GIRL NAME IDEAS

Kᴀlɪndᴀ Dorɪs nn Kᴀlɪ
Kᴀlɪndᴀ Dorɪᴀn nn Kᴀlɪ
Kᴀlɪndᴀ Dorɪᴀnn nn Kᴀlɪ

BOY NAME IDEAS

Not a clue as of yet.

I will add that I love how Prince Harry and Meghan honored some very important people from their lives with Lilibet Diana while still giving her a name of her own.

[name_m]Dorian[/name_m] [name_m]Kai[/name_m] for a boy.

@marysia[name_f][/name_f] Thank you. I had actually thought of Kᴀɪ Dorɪᴀn at one point and didn’t think it would work. Didn’t even think of switching it around.

I really think Kᴀɪ is the most intuitve choice to honor Kᴀу for a boy, while still maintaining a separate identity. [name_m]Or[/name_m] something like [name_m]Mikael[/name_m] or [name_m]Zakkai[/name_m]? I think Kᴀlɪndᴀ is a really clever choice as well; I personally prefer it paired with Dorɪs.

[name_f][/name_f]

A few other boy options to honor DorÉŞs:
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Andor[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Doran[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Isidore[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Lindor (Lɪndᴀ + Dorɪs)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Salvador[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Tudor[/name_m]

I’ve been trying different ways to combine these honour names and thought I’d include them all for you rather than just one for each.

I think Kal!nda is a great way of honoring K@y and L!nda!

[name_f][/name_f]

Maybe…
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Melinda[/name_f] Dor|s (nn [name_m]Mel[/name_m], [name_f]Meli[/name_f], [name_f]Lindy[/name_f], [name_f]Mindy[/name_f], or Mimi) (Melinda from Pam3la + L!nda)
[name_f][/name_f]Kal!nda [name_f]Doreen[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Dolores[/name_f] Kal!nda (nn [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] or Lola)
[name_f][/name_f]Dor!ann Pamel!nda
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Orli[/name_f] [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] (Orli from D0ris [name_f][/name_f] + L1nda)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Morris[/name_m] [name_m]Kai[/name_m] (Morris kind of combines both D0r!s and Mar!3?)
[name_f][/name_f]Dor!an [name_m]Mackay[/name_m] (I considered the McKay spelling which I think is really cool but I like that the “Ma” part incorporates M@rie too)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Linden[/name_m] [name_m]Mackay[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Theodorus[/name_m] [name_f]Palin[/name_f] (nn [name_m]Theo[/name_m], [name_m]Ted[/name_m], or Teddy) (don’t know if [name_f]Palin[/name_f] feels too political?)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Kayleb[/name_m] Dor!an
[name_f][/name_f]Dor!an [name_m]Kayler[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Kayson[/name_m] Dor!an

Have you considered honoring based on the name meaning?

[name_f][/name_f]

Like names meaning sweet or honey for P? [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] or beautiful for L? [name_m]Gift[/name_m] or ocean for D?

[name_f][/name_f]

It doesn’t really seem like your style but [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] would have a meaning related to P, with the D + or sounds for D. And I know you want intuitive but Kᴀɪ would be a one swoop honor for all three through Kᴀу and the ocean meaning.

[name_f][/name_f]

@VEL[name_f][/name_f] I have been considering [name_m]Mikel[/name_m] for another honor, but hadn’t thought of using the spelling [name_m]Mikael[/name_m]. Also, thank you for the confirmation. [name_f][/name_f] I’m loving several of these ideas and will be taking them into consideration.

[name_f][/name_f]

@kachenka[name_f][/name_f] Thank you! Some of these combos are right up my alley… and they would fit in with my other top names so well. [name_f][/name_f] There are a couple of names I had thought of using long ago, but didn’t think of while looking at honors more recently. [name_f][/name_f] They are back on the list.

[name_f][/name_f]

@namelover55[name_f][/name_f] Thank you. I’m especially loving Kᴀɪ [name_m]Marius[/name_m]. [name_f][/name_f] I hadn’t heard [name_f]Kinvara[/name_f] before so I’m going to let that one marinate for a bit to see what I think of it with a bit more time.

[name_f][/name_f]

@EagleEyes[name_f][/name_f] Thank you – I appreciate the confirmation! [name_f][/name_f] While there are a couple of names I can’t use for varying reasons, I do love all of these ideas. [name_f][/name_f] What I can’t use is giving me ideas for other similar names. [name_f][/name_f] Unfortunately, with family being from [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] and having spent so much time there visiting while growing up, [name_f]Palin[/name_f] is a bit to much, but I do love the idea.

[name_f][/name_f]

@lateaugust[name_f][/name_f] I have considered honoring through meaning, but I’m struggling to find names I love based on meaning. [name_f][/name_f] Funny you mention Kᴀɪᴀ [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] – it was on my list when I first started on NB, but as an honor for a couple of other people. [name_f][/name_f] Also, [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Kᴀɪ was also on my list for honoring the same people. I appreciate the reminder of these two, plus the addition of Lɪnden here. [name_f][/name_f] Several of these are quite striking and would fit well with my other names.

[name_f][/name_f]

@Estrela[name_f][/name_f] While [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is off the list, I can definitely appreciate the name and it’s making me look at variations that would work. [name_f][/name_f] I love the rest and they would certainly work well. [name_f][/name_f] Thank you.

[name_f][/name_f]

@Greyblue[name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Linus[/name_m] actually came to mind the other day when I was watching a hockey clip, but wasn’t sure if it would work for this purpose. [name_f][/name_f] So many of these are excellent and not what I was expecting, but I can see all the honors. [name_f][/name_f] Thank you so much!

@MrBadger[name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Marlin[/name_m] is creative, but I definitely see the honor. [name_f]Eudora[/name_f] [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] [name_f]Lynette[/name_f] will take some getting used to, in part or in whole, but it is certainly worthy of a consideration. Thank you.

sorry for any repeats

@shanade213[name_f][/name_f] Thank you. [name_f][/name_f] Repeats are fine as it helps to show me more than one person considers it feasible. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Dorinda[/name_f] was on my list at one point… don’t know why I didn’t include it now :woman_shrugging:t2:[name_f][/name_f]. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Love[/name_f] these combos, especially with how you came up with them. [name_f][/name_f] While some are current family names so I can’t use the individual names, I can certainly appreciate the combos.

[name_f][/name_f]

@love.endures[name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Olinda[/name_f] is actually quite appropriate… not only would it honor Lɪndᴀ, but I grew up with a fig tree in the side yard of my childhood home. [name_f][/name_f] Thank you!
