How would you intuitively pronounce “ Ivar “?

I’d say ee-vahr, but then I [name_f][/name_f] know[name_f][/name_f] it’s pronounced like that in Scandinavia, mostly because I’m interested in names and work at a school with a fairly diverse student population?

I’ll add that if it was the similar [name_m]Ivor[/name_m], I’d probably say eye-ver, while I would probably be unsure if it was [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] :person_shrugging:

[name_f][/name_f]

Still, I feel like the eye- sound would be a lot of [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers’ first guess, esp. with the popularity of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].

While I think it’s still usable [name_f][/name_f]- and a lovely name [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f][/name_f] are you in any (irl) baby groups/pre-natal classes where you could ask about it [name_f][/name_f]- so not anyone super close to you, but at least from your area?
