How would you name DC4?

So we have 3 DC and a 4 one to come.
But my worry is how to name the whole family and ensure no child feels they were not given a special name…

So far we did not follow a theme, just chose names we love and are not popular in the UK where we live, ie not in the top 50 and ensured they are connected to our cultures, and we have Latin, Greek and FR in our ancestors

Dd1 is Ophélie
DS is Amelio
DD2 [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]

And we don’t know what to name DD3
We like [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]!

DD1 complained the other day that she wished she had a Latin name too like DS and DD2 but I do hope she will get to appreciate her name as she grows…it made me sad as I love her name
And someone mentioned that [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] does not feel complete so we are leaning towards [name_f]Luna[/name_f]

With DD3 coming after sister [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and them being closer in age we thought that would be a nice combo, [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f]

But what do you think? [name_m]Will[/name_m] DD1 feel left out?
DD1’s name actually was the one that I always wanted to name my little girl as since I was younger and I feel blessed to have had the chance to do so. In fact many people love it and comment how lovely it is.

[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] is also a nice choice for DD3 which goes with DD1’s name and I actually love it, but it makes me sad not to get to use [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and DH loves [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. He’s not that sure on [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]. This is also most probably our last child, don’t think we will have any more now…

What are your thoughts on our name combinations? We want to choose a name for DD3 that we also love

I think [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] is beautiful.

I understand where you are coming from. When we named DD4 we struggled with finding a name as unfamiliar as [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] so she wouldn’t feel left out. I really like the idea of using another french name to tie into Ophélie, which is beautiful, and I think [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] does just that. I would consider other [name_m]French[/name_m] names or at least something more ornate than [name_f]Luna[/name_f] with your children.

I don’t think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] or [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] go with the names of your children. I think that a flowy, lilting [name_m]French[/name_m] or Italian name would work well.

Thank you [name_f]Susette[/name_f], these were the only ones we agreed on though and It was really hard even agreeing on these two

What do you mean by floating, lilting FR and IT names? Any suggestions?

For reference DD1 goes by Phelie often and DS by Melio. [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is the only one that does not get her name shortened…

I think [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] goes the best (and I like the sound and meaning). I agree that another [name_m]French[/name_m] name to match [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] would be good. Also if she already feels left out it might not be great to have #3 & 4 have super matching names.

Other ideas:

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
Léonie
Noémie
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]

[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] is one I like most From FR names I know as it’s uncommon for us and has a nice nature meaning

Funny enough though both DD1 and DH love [name_f]Luna[/name_f] more. DD1 likes [name_f]Luana[/name_f] too but DH not really.

And a new one I like is [name_f]Giovanna[/name_f], wdyt?
Any other beautiful IT or ES names that could suit?

I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is a bit similar to [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]…I would probably have a hard time remembering which was which (if I were a family acquaintance).

I wouldn’t worry too much about DD1’s feelings about her name. Most people go through a phase of disliking or at least being neutral on their name: it’s beautiful, unusual and you love it, so she will likely change her mind later, as an adult.

Eu that is interesting, that will be confusing to people for sure. Another choice will be best in this case.

It has been so hard to agree with DH on a name, as he likes less frilly, shorter names and I like more romantic names. He rejected so many names I suggested I do not know what to suggest anymore…
He loves all our other kids’ names. If He likes names like our kids’ ones and the following, what other names do you think go with our kids he may like:
[name_f]Maia[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Laura[/name_f] (Spanish/Italian pronunciation)
[name_f]Irene[/name_f] (Spanish pronunciation)
[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] (I don’t like that one but for reference he likes it)

I’m clearly partial to [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] :), but I also think it goes best with [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f], and I feel that [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] are a bit too matchy. With [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], you’d have two kids with [name_m]French[/name_m] names and two with Latin names, which is more balanced out [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] would be lovely!

I am thinking of [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] now, I kind of like it with nickname [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] though she may be just an [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] too!
Does that suit?
I will run it with DH
Though I do love [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], so pretty, I love more the nickname [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] and [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] makes me think of a more down to earth girl I can relate to…

[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] hands down.
It’s beautiful, it balances the sib set as you’d have 2 [name_m]French[/name_m] and 2 Latin names.
I second the suggestion of [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f]

We did not give any middle names to DC so we prefer not to do it for DD3 either.

[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] is still an option, I agree it is nice and I also love it, but I wanted to have one or two more names that we equally love. The second or third choice will ideally be an -a ending name or a cute shorter name ending in y/ie…

Any other suggestions please let me know
Another name I thought is [name_f]India[/name_f] though I did not run it by DH

I think [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] works better style-wise, however, both names are quite close to your daughters’ names (-lie and [name_f]Lu[/name_f]-) and I’m not sure which one will be less “confusing” though I’m leaning towards [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] as I think she may get [name_f]Cora[/name_f] as a nickname rather than a -lie related one as [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] does.
With [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], I can imagine one of their names getting shortened to [name_f]Lu[/name_f] as they get older and that could end up not only being weird and confusing but also robbing them of having their name - at least a little bit.

Some suggestions:
Leonora / Leonore / Eleonora / Eleonora nn Nora, Lea, Leo, Lena, etc.
Anastasia
Florentina
Leonida
Leontine
Apolline / Apollonia / Apollina nn Polly, Lina, Apple, etc.
Ottilie / Ottilia / Odile / Odilia / Odette
Violetta
Josefina
Cosmina
Valentina
Valeria

I really love [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]! You could give her the nickname [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. I also think if you don’t end up going with [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] then you could go with [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], which is also [name_m]French[/name_m] and is similar to [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]. To honor your Greek ancestry, you could go with [name_f]Melanie[/name_f], and even though it’s Greek I know a girl from [name_f]France[/name_f] who’s name is [name_f]Melanie[/name_f].

[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] are so so similar I would not use it. I agree [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] fits the best. I also agree that u should use another non obv Latin name to tie into DD1 name
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Solene[/name_f]
[name_f]Mazarine[/name_f]

Thank you, some lovely names though DH rejected a couple of these I liked like [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] and [name_f]Florentina[/name_f]. Interesting you also have my mum’s, [name_f]MIL[/name_f]’s, [name_m]SIL[/name_m]’s names and my best friend’s DC name there  And we decided although they have lovely names not to honour family as some may feel left out…

Thank you, some unusual names.
[name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] so unusual, the kind I like but I know it is not DH’s style…
Looking into [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] I came across [name_f]Lucasta[/name_f] and I thought that was cute… [name_m]How[/name_m] much do I love [name_f]Lu[/name_f] names

I do love the name [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]. I have a colleague named [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] and she is always complimented for her name- much in the same way your first daughter is with hers. However, if it doesn’t feel perfect quite yet I second the idea to use a soft, lilting [name_m]French[/name_m] name. It will make your eldest daughter feel a little less singled out. Perhaps you could use the following?

[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Liana[/name_f]
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cerise[/name_f]
[name_f]Monique[/name_f]
[name_f]Reinette[/name_f]
[name_f]Victorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cybele[/name_f]
[name_f]Fabienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lisette[/name_f]
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f]

[name_m]How[/name_m] about Mirta? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it?
It’s a ES and Greek version name of [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] and means crown of thorns?

I thought it sounds so sweet, love its sound and I can see it as part of our family.

I love FR names like [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] but I find Mirta more us and really sweet and me and DD1 and even DS love it

The fact that its roots are also of Greek origin like Ophélie is a bonus for us…
