Considering the name [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] for my baby girl. Biggest concern is pronunciation. I know the variations and I know how I would personally pronounce it but I am wondering how you would pronounce it ? Also where are you from ? I know sometimes that plays a part in pronunciations. Thank you so much !
I say it like eh-lay-nah. I’m from [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]England[/name_f].
I say uh lay nuh.
I would pronounce it Eh-[name_m]Lay[/name_m]-[name_m]Nuh[/name_m], I’m from the Prairies in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]
uh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nuh
Both the Elenas I’ve known personally have pronounced it [name_f]ELL[/name_f]-in-ah (the first two syllables like the name [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]), but I know of one who pronounces it uh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah, which seems to be more popular here on Nameberry.
Eh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-na
I am also in [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]England[/name_f].
Uh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-na - NZ
Eh-ley-na. My friend with this name mainly goes by [name_f]Lena[/name_f] - Ley-na. (Australia)
el-AY-nuh
Southern USA
Somewhere between eh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah and eh-LEH-nah. I’m in the DC area.
e-lay-nah or uh-lay-nuh
uh-lay-na and I’m somewhere in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u]
el-AY-na - western United States
My girlfriend’s sister’s name is [name_f]Elena[/name_f], and they pronounce it “eh-LEH-na” (rhymes with [name_f]McKenna[/name_f]). I was surprised at the pronunciation when I first heard it, but I like it now, it’s very simple. They call her [name_f]Lena[/name_f] for short (sounds like “lenna”).
eh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-na, uh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah, uh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nuh, depending on how lazy I’m being/how quickly I’m speaking (Australia).
eh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah
Southern USA
Eh-len-a. I’m from Southern [name_u]California[/name_u].
eh-[name_m]Lay[/name_m]-nuh is the only pronunciation I’ve ever heard used in real life (not on nameberry). I’m mid-Atlantic US.
Eh-lay-nah.
