I pronounce it eve-lee-nuh in portuguese and this is on my top girl names to use for sure
eh-vuh-LEE-nuh is how I would say [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] ![]()
eh-vuh-lyn is how I say [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], so eh-vuh-lynn-uh would be [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] + a ![]()
eev-lee-nuh would be [name_f]Eve[/name_f] + [name_f]Lina[/name_f] ![]()
Omg this is the first time that anybody has mentioned using the same pronunciation as the one I use! Out of all the Latin languages I would say Portuguese is by far the one I am least familiar with and also (I could be wrong) the least represented on this site so if this is standard pronunciation in Portuguese I can see why so many people find it such a foreign idea and why (ee-vuh-LEEN-ah) and (ehv-uh-LEEN-ah) are the most chosen pronounciations.
I still find [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] pronounced (eve-lee-nuh) to be the prettiest sound of them all but I was starting to settle on the more dominant way people seem to say it despite that way not really feeling right to me. So, in short, I am so so happy to have seen your post, thank you for sharing, and honestly if you know of any Portuguese given names that get completely left out/overlooked/ are unheard of across Nameberry could you please share them? Iād be quite interested.
I would say eev-uh-LEEN-uh
I Will think of some and get back at you on that ![]()
