Okay I absolutely love this name but only when it’s pronounced FAIR-[name_u]Gus[/name_u] not FUR-[name_u]Gus[/name_u] with the nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u].
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce the name?
Thanks in advance

I would pronounce it FUR-gus, sorry!
I would pronounce it FUR-gus
I also pronounce it FUR-gus.
I would say FUR-gus intuitively but I think it’s an easy correction!
Fur-gus
I say FUR-gus (central USA). I think FAIR-gus sounds nice but when I try it it sounds like I’m attempting a Scottish/Irish accent. So I don’t think this would work well where I live at least.
FUR-GUS is how I would automatically pronounce it
New Zealander here… also Fur-gus. Noce name though!
I’ve only ever heard fur-gus.
I’m American so I say it fur-gus…
As an American my instinct is FUR-gus but I know the correct pronunciation is FAIR-gus. However when I say it the correct way it’s like I’m trying to copy a Scottish accent so I just say FUR-gus.
Fergus is my top boy name and has been for a while. I’ve just decided I’d call him FUR-gus instead of correcting literally everyone multiple times.
This! I’d instinctively pronounce it Fur-gus and Fair-gus sounds great but i can only hear it in a Scottish accent
Fur-[name_u]Gus[/name_u].
I say fur-gus too. I think fair-gus only works in a Scottish or Irish accent personally.
I say FUR-gus like previous posters. If you’re in [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] or [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] then the pronunciation would be FAIR-gus because of the accents, so I guess it depends where you are. Nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_u]Gussie[/name_u] are so sweet!
I say Fair-gus (American). This might be because the only person I’ve ever met IRL with that name was Scottish.
I say FUR-gus. Pretty sure you’d only get FAIR-gus from a [name_m]Scot[/name_m].
Great thanks everyone
I say it FUR-gus. I’m American though so fair-gus just doesn’t come as naturally. I like how it sounds either way and of course if someone corrected me to fair-gus it would be easy enough to alter my pronunciation accordingly.
