How would you pronounce the name Eveleen?

It’s been about 2 years since I’ve been on this forum. Lots of exciting things have happened to me since then. I got married, got a new kidney (I am doing so much better), finished school, and we’re now adopting a little girl due the first week in [name_u]June[/name_u]. I have been extremely blessed these past few years and I missed this place quite a bit. Now that I am in the position to actually have to choose a name for my daughter I am stuck :stuck_out_tongue: It is so much harder than I ever imagined it to be. I’m revising my list and came across the name [name_f]Eveleen[/name_f]. Part of me wants to pronounce it Ev-leen, but then I can see it totally being shifted to “[name_f]Eve[/name_f]-leen” This won’t be the last post I make as I have lots of names to go through and expect lots of suggestions from you lovely ladies

I’d pronounce it exactly as it’s spelled, “eve-leen”.

Is [name_f]Evleen[/name_f] even an option? Spelling it out just looks awkward. It’s a shame as I love the name, but I don’t think I’m too fond of [name_f]Eve[/name_f]-Leen.

I wouldn’t consider it an option myself. If you’re feeling adventurous Eibhlín can be pronounced EV-leen.

What language is that? It’s one of those spellings that I look at it and go “[name_m]How[/name_m]?”

It’s Irish and I don’t blame you. A lot of people look at the names and have no idea how to pronounce them. I usually double check myself.

Congratulations.

I would pronounce it EV-leen. [name_f]Evvie[/name_f] (EV-ee) is an adorable nickname.

I’d pronounce it "ee-va-LEEN, but I think “EV-ah-leen” is really pretty. Have you thought about the spelling [name_f]Eveline[/name_f]?

“ev-eh-leen”

This is probably because of the similar pronunciation of [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]. If you wan’t “ev-leen” I’d spell it [name_f]Evleen[/name_f] or [name_f]Evline[/name_f].

[name_f]Eveline[/name_f] has never crossed my mind tbh. I think I would go with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] over [name_f]Eveline[/name_f]. I have some time, but I feel like there are so many names spelled one way, but pronounced so differently. We’re still in the early process of deciding on a name and are going between something classic or something on a way different spectrum, or even a nice combination of the two. [name_f]Eveleen[/name_f] is just so pretty to me.

I have to agree with you on that
