How would you pronounce the name Schyler?

[name]How[/name] would you pronounce the name [name]Schyler[/name]? I would say [name]Sky[/name]-ler but I’m worried in case some people pronounce it Shy-ler which I also like but think it’s too much like [name]Shiloh[/name] which is fastgaining popularity. What are your opinions on the name? And what middle name would you pair it with?

I would say Shy-ler.

I’ve learned that I’m supposed to say [name]Skyler[/name] when I see this name but my first instinct is ALWAYS to say Shy-ler.

And I know that the “sch” is pronounced like in SCHool but the following “y” throws me off.

In my mind, if it’s suppose to be pronounced [name]Skyler[/name], then spell it [name]Skyler[/name].

The original spelling is [name]Schuyler[/name] and even though I’ve always known it to be pronounced [name]Sky[/name]-ler, a lot of people say Shoe-ler (we live off a [name]Schuyler[/name] Dr). Having said that, I much prefer the [name]Schuyler[/name] spelling to the made-up-spelling [name]Skyler[/name].

Without a second thought I would say “[name]Sky[/name]-ler”

[name]Sky[/name]-Ler

[name]Sky[/name]-ler. I like the spelling [name]Skyler[/name] better though.

I would say [name]Skylar[/name], but isn’t it spelled [name]Schuyler[/name]? I always thought it was because I remember being initially confused because I have a good friend with the last name Schuler - SHOE-luhr.

I would say shy-ler if I saw it written, I don’t have any knowledge of this name or one similar. If you said her name was [name]Sky[/name]-ler, then I would spell it [name]Skyler[/name]. I think that shy-ler is cute, not too close to [name]Shiloh[/name]. Although would probably get confused with [name]Skyler[/name], both look a little trendy to me.

I would say shy-ler, but [name]Schuyler[/name] is definitely sky-ler. I hate all versions.

I’ve never seen the variant [name]Schyler[/name]. [name]Schuyler[/name], like others have said, is pronounced sky-ler but I agree that you may have to correct people sometimes. Use the name if you love it (I do!) but please don’t spell it [name]Skyler[/name].

I immediately read it as “shy-ler.”

As the mother of a [name]Schuyler[/name] [name]Christian[/name]( 21 yo boy) and a [name]Carter[/name] [name]Shane[/name] (19 yo boy) - [name]Schuyler[/name] is the masculine spelling and also the town that the “real” [name]Walton[/name] family lived in [name]West[/name] [name]Virginia[/name]. [name]Skyler[/name] is a feminine spelling.

As for the name [name]Carter[/name] - I love that it has shot up in popularity - I picked the names from a fictional novel named Satisfaction!

Funny thing is that our last name is extremely popular also - [name]Jackson[/name]!
