I like the name [name_m]Theon[/name_m] and always thought [name_f]Theone[/name_f], pronounced (Thee-own) would be nice for a girl. [name_m]Just[/name_m] found out that it’s a real name. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it, though?
Because it looks Greek I would assume it’s pronounced Thee-oh-nee like [name_f]Ione[/name_f]/[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]/[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]/[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] etc
I would assume thee-oh-nee.
Like previous poster I also would have said thee-OH-nee.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m], so like [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]. That makes sense. Bummer though, I don’t really like it with this name.
Exactly this.
Since its Greek based its probably Thee-knee or Thee-uh-nee
[name_m]Theon[/name_m] i would pronounce thee-on and [name_f]Theone[/name_f] thee-own similar to throne
thats a WONDERFUL name! it was my grandmothers name, and we do indeed pronounce it thee-own. i dont know how it happened, of course, but some people called her tony for short.
but not that many, most people called her theone.
Yeah I have to agree with previous posters that I thought it would be Thee-oh-nee because of other Greek names.
Well you’ve gotta remember you’re in a forum of name nerds, where we study names and pronunciations. Outside of nameberry in the general population I feel most people would probably pronounce it thee-own… (at least in the US)
I would also say [name_u]Theo[/name_u]-nee
I did some Googling & came across this site: Theone - How to pronounce Theone
There are links to pronunciations in a number of languages (unfortunately not Greek), including several English variants…& every English variant is different.
I said thee-OWN in my head when I first read it.
I would say thee-O-nee or THEE-uh-nee.
I would pronounce it like the- OH- n, like how you pronounce [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and rhymes with phone.
