In my quest for full names for [name]Nellie[/name] I have come across these two. Anelia I read two different pronunciations for. [name]One[/name] was ah-nee-lee-uh like [name]Amelia[/name] but with the letter “n” and the other was ah-nel-yuh.(This would make sense for [name]Nellie[/name] as a nickname.) When I first saw it though, I pronounced it as Ahna-leah.
Anelie I pronounced as AHNA-lee, with the emphasis on the first syllable. Does anyone have any input on these two names and their possible pronunciations? Thanks!
I know someone who used Anelia. I am pretty sure she says it uh-[name]NEEL[/name]-yah. My instinct is to say Anelie as [name]Amelie[/name] with an “N”–ah-NILL-ee.
I saw Anelia as “Ahn-[name]NEL[/name]-yah” first. I could see how [name]Ann[/name]-ah-lee-ah would work. I think it is pretty, esp. with nn [name]Nell[/name].
Not gonna lie, Anelie first looked like “anally” to me. I don’t mean to be lewd or anything; that is just what I read. Funny that they are only one letter off, but I read them so differently. When I thought again, I would guess, “AHN-nell-ee” (like the French [name]Amelie[/name]). But I would probably discard this one, because I don’t think I would be the last person to see Anelie that first way… The spelling [name]Annelie[/name] helps in my mind, though.
I say them like [name]ANN[/name]-ee-lee-ah (like [name]Amelia[/name]) and [name]ANNA[/name]-lee (like [name]Amelie[/name] said in the English way, I don’t like AHNA-lee at all, it sounds too nasally to me)
I know someone named Aneliya nn [name]Neli[/name]. She’s Russian, and pronounces her name [name]Ah[/name]-NEH-lee-yah. So that’s how i’d read Anelia. i read Anelie like [name]Amelie[/name] (emphasis on the 1st syllable).
