Here’s a link http://www.forvo.com/search/shoshoni/ , it sounds like the [name]Shoshone[/name] Indians and I think that’s where it comes from at least that’s what wikipedia says about [name]Shoshoni[/name], [name]Wyoming[/name] but I really don’t know. FWIW I think [name]Shoshana[/name] is a beautiful alternative

Having never seen or heard this name before, my first thought at pronunciation would be “Show-[name]Shawny[/name]”.
