I am expecting my first in just under 2 months. If its a girl I have picked the name ‘Hannae’. The baby will be mixed and will ‘hopefully’ speak [name_m]French[/name_m], English and Norwegian. I am not sure how this spelling would be read out in English?
What about the alternative Hania/Haniya? What do you think of them and how would you pronounce them?
Thank you for your answers! Seems like most people would pronounce it the same ‘Han-nay’. I think the actual pronunciation is meant to be ‘Han-air’ but the consulates have constraints on spellings you can use ([name_f]Hanae[/name_f], Hanaa or maybe [name_f]Hanah[/name_f]). My other option is a very similar form of the name: [name_f]Hania[/name_f] or Haniya. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce these two? They should be ‘Ha-nee-a’ but wondering if anyone would end up reading them ‘Han-eye-a’. Which spelling/name do you prefer?
Thank you for your help! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t want to saddle poor girl with a name nobody knows how to read but its ok if some people need to be corrected since it is a foreign name.
I would pronounce [name_f]Hania[/name_f] as Ha-nee-a and Haniya as Han-eye-a.
I think with Hannae the pronunciation would have to be corrected often, but once it was corrected there shouldn’t be much issue.
