How would you pronounce this NN?

I have always loved the name [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], however I wouldn’t choose the nn [name_m]Ben[/name_m],because it’s too popular and also one of my favorite girl names is [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. And [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and [name_m]Ben[/name_m] is simply scary.
So my nn choice for [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] is Bene - which works very well in my mother tongue ([name_m]German[/name_m]), but I started wondering how someone whose native language is English would pronounce this nn?

( I pronounce it like the Latin word “bene”/ the Italian expression “va bene” (same pronunciation  ) )

Definitely [name_m]Ben[/name_m]-ah or [name_m]Ben[/name_m]-uh, if I knew that it was short for [name_m]Benedict[/name_m].

If I were to see Bene written without any context I’d assume it were pronounced [name_m]BEN[/name_m]-eh.

Thank you!

Without knowing the full name, [name_m]Ben[/name_m]- E

I would assume it was like the Italian word.

Italian way for me too, rhyming with penne pasta

Out of context, I’d probably think it was pronounced bean. [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] aren’t “simply scary” for siblings.

Probably ben-ay, like penne pasta. You could probably use [name_m]Ned[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], as a side note.

The Italian way as well!

I’m torn between pronouncing it as [name_m]BEN[/name_m]-eh or just like [name_m]Ben[/name_m].

I would definitely pronounce this like “[name_m]Bean[/name_m]”.

I would say [name_m]Ben[/name_m]-ay!

My first thought was [name_m]Bean[/name_m].
