I pronounce it [name_m]AL[/name_m]-ə-rik.
I instinctively said uh-LAIR-ic when I first saw the name until I was told it’s [name_m]AL[/name_m]-ah-ric. I didn’t realize if there’s more than one accepted pronunciation.
This is me as well.
My neighbor has a relative named [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] and they pronounce it Uh-LAR-ic . Nice name!
@ash114 that makes me so happy to hear! I really prefer that pronunciation and have heard it that way more but second-guess because [name_m]AL[/name_m]-ah-ric seems to be the right way… I think I’ll stick with uh-lar-ic. I just love the flow! And they pronounce it that way on the tv show The Vampire Diaries. I think I should be safe…

Going off forvo, [name_m]Al[/name_m]-ah-ric is one of the English pronunciations, while [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-lar-ic is another.
The [name_m]French[/name_m] one sounds like it puts more stress on the thrid syllable (still starts with [name_m]Al[/name_m]), and the [name_m]German[/name_m] one sounds like Uh-lair-ic.
Something else: “ah-LAH-ric” (“lah” like in “clap”).
Is it supposed to be “ALL-uh-ric”?
@katinka - supposedly, it is [name_m]AL[/name_m]-ah-ric. That is how pronounce names says it. But I have heard it pronounced Uh-LAR-ic. I think I am just going to stick with it, because this name seems to have a ton of pronunciation variations.

I’ve only heard it pronounced Uh-LAR-ic, and it hurts my heart to think of it/hear it pronounced any other way because I adore the name!
