How would you pronounce

How would you pronounce [name_f]Kirra[/name_f]?
I recently asked everyone to rate my favourite names incl [name_f]Kirra[/name_f]. Most people said that she would constantly have to explain how to pronounce it. For me there’s only one obvious pronunciation. How would you pronounce if you read it?

I have a cousin called Kirra! She pronounces it KEE-ruh, like Keira.

Is the ‘i’ the same as in [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] or more like [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] without the ‘L’?

Like Lee without the L. To me that’s the obvious pronunciation.

I would definitely assume keer-a with the first sound like the word ‘key’

Keer-uh

I would assume ‘kih-ra’, like - as I think you explained in another post - ‘mirror’. So when I say ‘kih’, I mean like the beginning of [name_u]Kit[/name_u].

KEE-ra. Maybe KEER-ah.

Same are [name_f]Keira[/name_f], so keer-uh

I would either say keer-uh (like Keira) or kurr-uh

[name_f]My[/name_f] first instinct is kurr-uh, but then I got to Keer-uh next. I think if you want the Keer-uh pronunciation then [name_f]Kira[/name_f] with only one R seems more intuitive

[name_f]My[/name_f] first instinct was kurr-uh.

Rhyming with mirror

I would pronounce this the same as Keira / Ciara.

This is a great comparison example. That’s exactly how I say it.

Kee-ra

Honestly the double r threw me off, I initially read it as Ker-a , but then was like, “oh wait that’s probably like [name_f]Keira[/name_f] / [name_f]Kira[/name_f] / Ciara.”

I read it like [name_f]Keira[/name_f] but I cold see Kur-ruh.

yes I agree. When I read it I’d say it as kurr-uh because of the double r. With one r, I would pronounce it as keer-uh. So I’d go with the Kira or Keira spelling if you wanted that pronunciation. :purple_heart:
