[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] - ohmygoodness, after I ate her all up, I’d hug and kiss her parents for picking such a darling, adorable, sweet, vintagey name. I adore it, and I love the majority of your combos for it (I want [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] back!).
[name_f]Betsy[/name_f] - it’s not my favorite, but I don’t hate it. I know a cute little [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] (whose full name is Betz@be, so I feel like just [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] is a much better alternative, haha!) that has made me like it much more.
[name_f]Edie[/name_f] - I think its nicknamey, but sweet. I like [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] all much more than [name_f]Edie[/name_f], but I know an ADORABLE [name_f]Edyn[/name_f] who I call almost exclusively [name_f]Edie[/name_f], and she’s totally made me appreciate [name_f]Edie[/name_f].
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] - oh, dear, I just don’t understand this. [name_f]Holly[/name_f], I can sort of see. It’s sorta bland and dated, but I still like it (especially as a middle). [name_f]Molly[/name_f], I can appreciate, even though I don’t really like it. [name_f]Lolly[/name_f] I think is cute, but sort of a joke (it just sounds ridiculous to me). But [name_f]Polly[/name_f]? It sounds more respectable than [name_f]Lolly[/name_f], but I just don’t think it’s cute at all, but too cutesy to be a full name. I just don’t get it. I wouldn’t vocalize it, but this is just one of those names I don’t get, and if you want an honest response, I’d be quite disappointed. I just irrationally dislike [name_f]Polly[/name_f], though.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - see [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] - I’ve just never seen how [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] was modernized. It’s still an old hag’s name for me, and I don’t think it sounds appealing at all. I can’t even imagine a [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] being cute or sweet or spunky; I really dislike [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], sorry!
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] - Well, the two Miriams I do know/have known have been amazing ladies who were mentors and friends, so even though I’m not a HUGE fan of the name, I do love [name_f]Miri[/name_f] as a nn, and I think [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] is quite lovely. It has feel-good vibes to it that I like.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - who wouldn’t like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]? She’s gorgeous. I especially love [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as nns, but also [name_f]Neve[/name_f]/[name_f]Niamh[/name_f] and [name_f]Gen[/name_f].
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - I’ve been thinking of adding this myself! I like it a lot.
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] - sweet. I still like [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] way more, but I’d be happy to meet a little [name_f]Hattie[/name_f].
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f] - With [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] the Mouse, [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] just seems ridiculously old-fashioned and cutesy all at once; I wish I could take [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] serious, but I can’t.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] - I would think her parents were HUGE HP nerds, lol. I think [name_f]Hera[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], and even [name_f]Nonna[/name_f]/[name_f]Nona[/name_f]/[name_f]Mia[/name_f] are cute nns, but I just can’t get behind it fully. Probably because I never cared for HP at all.
[name_u]Billie[/name_u] - I think [name_u]Billie[/name_u]'s adorable as a nn (I really like [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f] nn [name_u]Billie[/name_u]!), but it’s just too masculine for a full name for me. I feel the same way about [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Leni[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleni[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/etc.
[name_f]Marnie[/name_f] - It feels very British to me, and very unappealing in sound. I like [name_f]Mamie[/name_f] much more.
[name_f]Effie[/name_f] - haha, I just think of [name_f]Effie[/name_f] from The Hunger Games! I’ve never thought it was that appealing, but it’s not ugly, by any means. I know of a family who has a little [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] nn [name_f]Effie[/name_f]. I also know someone who had [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Effie[/name_f] as her top choice for a girl, too. I think it’s okay, just not my favorite.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] - sweet, spunky, literary, vintage. Who could hate [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]?
[name_f]Marie[/name_f] - it’s my MN, and I am largely not a fan, but I kind of think I’d like to meet a little [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Em[/name_f]/M and [name_u]Ari[/name_u] are cute nns, but I do vastly prefer [name_f]Maria[/name_f].
[name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] - too cutesy/sickeningly sweet for me, and I can’t really see it on a kid, but it’s not a bad name.
[name_f]Nellie[/name_f] - erm, yeah, too cutesy/childish. I know you like these cutesy names, and I think they’re usable to an extent, and I am all for just [name_f]Nell[/name_f], even, but I can’t get into [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]. I am not really a [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] fan in general, though, so I can’t say I’d be thrilled to meet a little [name_f]Nellie[/name_f].
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] - I think it’s a little old-fashioned, but still really sweet! I love [name_f]Liv[/name_f] as a nn.
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] - lovelovelove [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]! I’d be thrilled to meet a little one with the name.
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] - I’ve always found [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] hard to appreciate (too [name_m]German[/name_m]-feeling for me), but I do like the nns [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] quite a lot again! I used to like it and [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] about equally, then I preferred [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] and only [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], but I’m coming around to [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] again. I might even prefer it to [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]…
[name_f]Bessie[/name_f] - too much cow for me. I like [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] much more.
[name_f]Dora[/name_f] - too [name_f]Dora[/name_f] the explorer, but I have met/know several Doras, and they’re all lovely. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time I hear [name_f]Dora[/name_f] brought up, though, my coworkers snicker. I don’t think they realize it’s a real name outside of [name_f]Dora[/name_f] the [name_u]Explorer[/name_u], haha!
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] - gorgeous and very old-timey, but I vastly prefer [name_f]Verity[/name_f].
[name_f]Essie[/name_f] - I don’t really get it. It sounds like two letters, SE, to me, not really a name. I hear it as a nn for [name_f]Esther[/name_f] occasionally, but I like Estey/[name_f]Estie[/name_f]/Esty much more.
[name_f]Ethel[/name_f] - oh, wow, yeah, despite [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_m]Allen[/name_m], still very much an old hag name for me. Not bad, but I like [name_f]Edith[/name_f] far more.
[name_f]Doris[/name_f] - oh, dear, sorry, I know you’ve grown to like it after [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] Poulston used it, but I think it’s awful. [name_f]Dora[/name_f], yeah, but [name_f]Doris[/name_f], no. Probably has to do with the fact that the strongest [name_f]Doris[/name_f] connection in my eyes is probably the equivalent of a British chav.
[name_f]Nettie[/name_f] - reminds me of fishing nets and nettles, so nah, not for me, and I don’t get the appeal. I think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] work much better.
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] - sweet. I generally prefer [name_f]Lucilla[/name_f], but I do like [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] now, too.
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] - it’s nice. I prefer [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], but I still like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].
[name_f]Delia[/name_f] - I know a very nice lady named [name_f]Delia[/name_f]! I think of the catalogue, but [name_f]Delia[/name_f] is nice. I like the fuller [name_f]Adelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] more, though.
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] - too cutesy for me. I guess it’s probably how some people see [name_m]Bear[/name_m], though, and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] on a guy.
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] - sweet, but not namey enough for me. I do [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] some of its nicknames, though! ([name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], [name_f]Em[/name_f]…)
I maintain my opinion that there’s really nothing wrong with any of these, though, and that some of them are really [name_m]WORTH[/name_m] reviving, even if they’re not loved instantly. Your love for them is what really matters, though, not what a stranger says. [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] are my favorites.
