How would you spell Bree-Lee?

I really like the sound of it. No matter how I spell it, the common pronunciation seems to be Bry lee[name_f][/name_f]. I thought about [name_m]Brily[/name_m], but it kinda looks like Bril [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Lee[/name_m]. [name_f]Briley[/name_f] is also pronounced Bry-lee. Is it just one of those names that have more than one pronunciation? [name_f]Brilee[/name_f] is apparently also pronounced as Bry? So weird to me when most all B-R-I girl names are always [name_f]Bree[/name_f]

I would say [name_f]Briley[/name_f] / [name_f]Brilee[/name_f] / etc is usually bry-lee, in the style of [name_f]Riley[/name_f], [name_f]Miley[/name_f], etc. I’ve only heard it said that way and would definitely assume ‘bry’.

I would probably spell it Breeley, Breelee, or Breely to make your desired pronunciation clearer.

In my experience, [name_f]Briley[/name_f] is always with a long “i” sound – BRY-lee.

I like the above suggestion of Breeley or Breely to mimic Keely/Keeley.

Agreed with above. I think it will have to start with Bree- to work! Breelie is another spelling option that I would add.

I think one big difference between Brie and Bri as standalone names vs at the beginning of a name is that the rules of pronunciation change based on placement in a word. At the end of the word, they usually do make the -ee- sound, but it gets more complicated in the beginning or middle of the word

I’d spell this Brieley, based on the sounds you’re describing :white_heart:

I see. I don’t find Breely very aesthetically pleasing.[name_f][/name_f] I do like [name_f]Brilee[/name_f], but having grown up with a name that had 2 pronunciations, it was always a battle correcting people. This would definitely happening with this name.

That’s a little better. Perhaps, Briely?? I made up a name, because I love the name Brielle, but my husband has a niece named Aubrielle, so my favorite of all names got scrapped before there was a chance to even use it. I love Bri names. So I came up with Brilyana. Suppose to be pronounce Bree-lee-on-nuh. But it was just something I was playing with.

I agree, any of the [name_f]Bri[/name_f]- spellings I would default to Bry like [name_m]Brian[/name_m] or [name_f]Briley[/name_f].

I was leaning toward Breeley at first, but I think Brieley could also work?

Breeley was my first thought as well. Maybe Briely as a second

I think I could live with the spelling Briely. Breely just seems so forced to me.

what about Brelie?

Briely still looks a lot like Bry-lee to me. I do have a cousin Kieley though (rhymes with Riley), which could be why.

[name_f][/name_f]

I guess it’s due to [name_f]Riley[/name_f] / [name_m]Rilee[/name_m] / Rylie’s popularity [name_f][/name_f] maybe?

[name_f][/name_f]

You could do Breeley or Breelie? Maybe Brealey?

Breeley :fallen_leaf:

Ooo, I second Brealey! I think that looks very much like the sound you’re going for, and I like the [name_f]Brea[/name_f] beginning

I know you said it wasn’t your favourite, but the one that makes the most sense to me is Breeley.
