How would you spell it?

Our daughter [name]Lily[/name] [name]Cay[/name] is having a baby sister! After much deliberation, DH and I finally settled on the name [name]Siddalee[/name] [name]Claire[/name]. Traditionally that’s the way it’s spelled, but I’m not digging the 2 double letters in [name]Siddalee[/name]. [name]How[/name] would you spell [name]Siddalee[/name]?

Is it pronounced the way its spelled?

Pronounced [name]Sid[/name]-ah-lee

I would go for something like Sidali or Siddalie

I would spell it Sidalie.

Siddalie or Sidalee

Ditto…

I read about the [name]Bates[/name] Family ( a family with 19 children in the US) and they have a daughter named Addallee and they spelled it that way because her heart stopped beating after she was born but the doctors were able to save her. They said that the double letters represented her second chance on life. I think that would be a nice way for your own daughter to remember she can have a second chance!

Babynamespedia lists [name]Siddalee[/name] as being pronounced sih-[name]DAY[/name]-lee. If you want to go with this prn, Sidayli, Sidaley or Sidailey would probably be be best. If you want to go with [name]Si[/name]-[name]DAW[/name]-lee, I would spell it Sidali.

Sidalee or sidalie

I would use Sidalie. I think that reads best for the pronunciation you want, and I don’t like the way double letters look, either.

Sidalie is how I would spell it

1 Sydalie
2 Sidalee
3 Sidalie
4 Sidalea

I don’t think I would change the spelling of this name. I love double letters but also it’s a character in [name]Rebecca[/name] Well’s book [name]Divine[/name] Secrets of the Ya-Ya sisterhood. In the movie [name]Siddalee[/name] “[name]Sidda[/name]” [name]Walker[/name] is played by [name]Sandra[/name] Bullock. This is probably most peoples 1st encounter with this name and most will spell it “[name]Siddalee[/name]”. It’s a nice literary name so I would keep it as is.

I wouldn’t change the spelling, the way other people are spelling it would make me pronounce it “[name]Sid[/name]-all-ee”

If you change the spelling I would at least keep the double d, because that is the only way I think you’d get the pronunciation “[name]Syd[/name]-uh”
