I like the a name pronounced kear uh but I’m not sure of the best spelling.

I don’t want people to read it as ki ruh

The spelling [name_f]Keira[/name_f] has been popularized by the actress [name_f]Keira[/name_f] Knightley, but it is important to note that [name_f]Keira[/name_f] is a complete misspelling of [name_f]Kiera[/name_f]. The actress herself has said her mother accidentally switched the vowels when writing her name down for her birth certificate. So personally, I’d go with the original Irish spelling [name_f]Kiera[/name_f]. It’s a beautiful name!
I know someone named [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] and everyone is able to pronounce it correctly 
[name_f]Keira[/name_f] and [name_f]Kira[/name_f] would be the easiest ways to spell it- [name_f]Keira[/name_f] is familiar to most people because of [name_f]Keira[/name_f] Knightley, and [name_f]Kira[/name_f] seems to be the most common spelling for that pronunciation based on what I’ve come across in real life. [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] is nice too and quite intuitive to pronounce when you see it written down though, so use that if it’s the spelling you like best. I would not spell it [name_f]Kyra[/name_f], which could be either kear-uh or ki-ruh. Either way though, since there are so many spellings it’s one of those names that will always have to be spelled out- like [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Kathryn[/name_f]/etc.

As a previous poster said, [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] has a history and is a beautiful spelling; however, I might pronounce it kee-ehr-uh instead of keer-uh.
[name_f]Kira[/name_f] gets my vote for that reason.
[name_f]Kira[/name_f] is the most straightforward spelling imo. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the name!

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though it is not the original spelling, I think [name_f]Keira[/name_f] is the best option.
My experience is limited, but I’ve only heard [name_f]Kira[/name_f] pronounced as keer-uh. But again, that’s just my experience.
Of course, there are hardly any names that are never mispronounced—my name is traditional, common, and I still hear the wrong vowel sound from time to time.

My sister’s name is spelled [name_f]Kira[/name_f] and everyone has pronounced it correctly. Coincidentally, her best friend is Kirah, and she doesn’t get any mispronunciations either. I know another [name_f]Kira[/name_f] with no issues either, but know one whose is spelled [name_f]Kyra[/name_f] and she always gets kye-ra.
I’d spell it either [name_f]Kira[/name_f] or [name_f]Kiera[/name_f].
I’d go with [name_f]Kiera[/name_f]. But I don’t think anyone would mispronounce [name_f]Keira[/name_f] because of [name_f]Keira[/name_f] Knightley.
My preference is [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], but I also think [name_f]Keira[/name_f] has now become acceptable and usable because of [name_f]Keira[/name_f] Knightly, so that would be fine too.
I have known a [name_f]Kyra[/name_f] pronounced K-eye-ra. I would think both [name_f]Kyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Kira[/name_f] could be K-eye-ra and would say it that way first.
I also love [name_f]Ciara[/name_f], an Irish Gaelic spelling with the same pronunciation as [name_f]Kiera[/name_f]. This is not to be confused with the Italian [name_f]Chiara[/name_f], a completely different name with different pronunciation - Kee-ar-ah.
I would go with the [name_f]Kira[/name_f] spelling.

I’d probably pronounce [name_f]Kira[/name_f], [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], and [name_f]Keira[/name_f] the way you like. My [name_m]French[/name_m] teacher has a daughter named [name_f]Kyra[/name_f], and she pronounces it keer-uh. Though she did preface this by saying “I know it’s probably supposed to be pronounced [name_m]KY[/name_m]-ruh, but her name is [name_f]Kyra[/name_f]…”
