How would you spell Roe-muh-lee?

Hello Berries,

If you heard a name pronounced like Roe-muh-lee or Roe-meh-lee how would you spell it?

The only spellings DH and I can find are “Romilly” and “Roamlee” but neither of the name pronunciations with those spellings feels right.

The only spelling that seems close to the pronunciation we like is “Romilee,” but it just doesn’t look right, and it seems like people may pronounce it as “Romi-lee.”

Thanks for your help!

The spelling [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] is definitely more established as a name but it’s uncommon enough for people to not know if it’s pronounced ‘roh-milly’ or ‘roe-milly’ so it’s definitely usable in this situation.

[name_u]Romilly[/name_u] is the one I’d go for (because it’s more established), with Romilee as a close second!

Romalie

[name_u]Romilly[/name_u] makes sense to me too but I would assume “Raw-muh-lee”

I’m not sure if I understand your desired pronunciation correctly, but would it be like [name_u]Roma[/name_u] and [name_u]Lee[/name_u] together? In that case Roma-Lee might be the best option.

I do like [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] but I can imagine you would have pronunciation difficulties with it.

I think [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] is what people would usually gravitate to but I’ve only ever heard it as rom (like romcom) ih lee.

What about Romalie? It reminds me of [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and I think the [name_u]Roma[/name_u] beginning makes it clear it’s ROH-mah not ROM-ah (at least hopefully). I think Romalie looks very sweet too. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought.

Good luck!

I’d probably use [name_u]Romilly[/name_u], however I’d say tkt quite differently. If I wanted to make sure it was roe-muh-lee I’d say [name_u]Roma[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] as a double barrel name.

Maybe…

Agree with the Romalie comments. I think that’s the most intuitive, and it looks quite pretty too.

I like [name_u]Romilly[/name_u], and think it could work, but in my mind it’s definitely pronounced ROM-uh-lee or roh-MILL-ee. I think “romi-lee” would be the most intuitive for Romilee, but you could get away with the “roe-muh-lee” pronunciation.

I’ll also suggest Romalee (literally [name_u]Roma[/name_u] + Lee).

i’d go for romalie for the pronunciation you like !! i like romilly, but that is quite firmly ROM-uh-lee to me. romelie also works, but it looks a little less ‘correct’ than romalie - romalie just looks right to me, maybe because of its closeness to rosalie <3
