How would you spell this name?

At church today, the preacher was speaking about [name_m]Jesus[/name_m]’ disciple, [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], but referred to him by [name_m]Levi[/name_m] (not unusual–he goes by both names throughout the Bible), but he used the traditional Hebrew pronunciation, [name_m]LEV[/name_m]-ee. Which I’m really loving, but I feel like [name_m]Levi[/name_m] pronounced this way is rather problematic. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you spell it? [name_m]Levy[/name_m]? It seems more intuitive, but I’m not sure I like the look of that, either. I’m wondering if it’d just be easier to use the Hebrew name [name_m]Lev[/name_m] (which I also love!) and using the nn Levvy/[name_m]Levi[/name_m]/[name_m]Levy[/name_m] occasionally.

WDYT? [name_m]Levi[/name_m]? [name_m]Levy[/name_m]? Levvy? [name_m]Lev[/name_m] nn [name_m]Levy[/name_m]? Or something totally different? I’d prefer not to get kre8tiv if I don’t have to–I’m not sure any name is worth that.

Any mn suggestions if I go for [name_m]Lev[/name_m]? I like [name_m]Lev[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] so far, but I feel like I overuse [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] as it is. I was hoping to find something that doesn’t reuse another favorite (or at least doesn’t reuse a favorite that I seem to want to put everywhere–namely, [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_u]Elias[/name_u], and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. ;)).

Thanks, Berries!

I’ve always heard [name_m]Levi[/name_m] as LEEV-eye and [name_m]Levy[/name_m] as LEHV-ee.

If you want the Leh-vee pronunciation I would definitely go with [name_m]Levy[/name_m].

I like [name_m]Lev[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] nn [name_m]Levy[/name_m] (agreed that this is the spelling you should use to get that pronunciation)

Thanks, everyone! I honestly am over [name_m]Levi[/name_m]–I used to like it, but now don’t even appreciate how it looks anymore–so I wasn’t really wanting that option anyhow.

I think I’m going to look for more [name_m]Lev[/name_m] combo ideas, because I’ve loved that one for a while. I’m liking [name_m]Lev[/name_m] nn [name_m]Levy[/name_m] more and more as I mull it over. Here’s to hoping I can find something I like more than [name_m]Lev[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]!
