How would you spell this name?

Okay so how would you spell the name pronounced digh-nuh?

I absolutely love this name and have had both spellings [name_f]Dina[/name_f] and [name_f]Dinah[/name_f] on my list - but have had lots of people read it as Dee-nuh when they see it written down (I don’t like this pronunciation anywhere near as much). Is there a specific spelling for this pronunciation? If not, how would you spell it as I really am not a fan of names which can be pronounced different ways :joy:

For me, [name_f]Dina[/name_f] is always pronounced Dee-nuh and [name_f]Dinah[/name_f] is always Diy-nah

I think [name_f]Dinah[/name_f]! I would always assume [name_f]Dinah[/name_f] is dye-nuh. [name_f]Dina[/name_f] could be dye-nuh or dee-nuh.

Honestly for me I think either spelling could go either way. I would probably ask the person how to pronounce it if I saw it before hearing it.

To me, Dina is always Dee-nuh, whereas Dinah is always Dye-nuh! So my pick for spelling is certainly Dinah!

I’ve always instinctively pronounced both [name_f]Dina[/name_f] and [name_f]Dinah[/name_f] as dee-na. I think that either way it’s something that’s easy to correct and it won’t be counterintuitive for people to pronunce either spelling your preferred way. But if you want absolutely no confusion you could go for a phonetic spelling like [name_f]Dyna[/name_f] or [name_f]Dynah[/name_f].

I would pronounce [name_f]Dina[/name_f] as DEE-nah and [name_f]Dinah[/name_f] as DYE-nah.

I prefer [name_f]Dinah[/name_f]! (Dina is D-nah as in the letter D & [name_f]Dinah[/name_f] is more like DY-nah)

[name_f]Dinah[/name_f]!

Where I live we would say DEE-nuh for [name_f]Dina[/name_f] and DY-nuh for [name_f]Dinah[/name_f].
