We are thinking about possible middles for [name]Hugh[/name] right now, with [name]Roland[/name] as the default if we can’t find something we love. Our last name begins with T so we’re staying away from names beginning with O and A - though we both have a soft spot for [name]Augusten[/name]/[name]Augustin[/name]/[name]August[/name]. We would also like to avoid a G/J sound to eliminate the sound of [name]Hugh[/name] running right into a Guh sound calling to mind “huge.”
Some ideas right now:
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Philip[/name] (we’ve nixed that one, but it gives you an idea of what style we like, classics)
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Rupert[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Edward[/name] (currently feeling most strongly about this, but is [name]Hugh[/name] E. Last name - [name]Hughie[/name] - a deal breaker?
As I said, we’re not feeling “this is it!” with any of these so I’d love to hear new suggestions!
I like [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Augusten[/name]. Why are you avoiding A’s? Because of [name]HAT[/name]? I would worry about [name]HAT[/name] way less than HOT.
I like the flow of [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] and the look of [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Edward[/name]. (I don’t think the [name]Hugh[/name] E. {last name} is a big deal)
Thanks, Emsky. Yes, I was avoiding A because of [name]HAT[/name], but you’re right, [name]HAT[/name] is livable while HOT is just awkward. I do like [name]Arthur[/name] with [name]Hugh[/name], and seeing you type [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Augusten[/name] together really makes me like that combo more and more.
For me, a vowel name makes the most sense following [name]Hugh[/name]. I like [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Augustine[/name] quite a bit as well as [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. I feel like [name]Hugh[/name] needs at least a three-syllable middle. [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Xavier[/name], [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], or [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] maybe?
Thanks for all your comments. I agree, a three-syllable name would suite [name]Hugh[/name] well. [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] is very handsome.
Hard to find 3 other syl names for [name]Hugh[/name], most I come up with are 1-2 combo’s sticking to the classic theme:
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]David[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Dexter[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Dominic[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Raymond[/name]
