Thanks to those who have already given feedback on our ideas re a girl’s name in separate posts. If this baby is a boy we are set on [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Roland[/name], though I’m sure my husband wouldn’t mind swapping the middle. I think the two are strong together, with [name]Roland[/name] serving to anchor [name]Hugh[/name] a bit. Any thoughts?
I love [name]Hugh[/name]. It fits into my favorite type of name category, recognizable as a real name with history and substance, yet underused and refreshing on a baby. I don’t love [name]Roland[/name], but that’s just a personal preference. [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Roland[/name] sounds okay together though.
Another thumbs up for [name]Hugh[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t love [name]Roland[/name] as a fn but okay with [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Roland[/name].
[name]Love[/name] [name]Hugh[/name]. [name]Roland[/name] is okay but not my favorite.
I like [name]Roland[/name], but [name]Hugh[/name] is not my fave…prefer [name]Hugo[/name], which I think would go great with [name]Roland[/name].
I like [name]Hugh[/name], a handsome, underused name. I think [name]Roland[/name] makes a nice mn.
I don’t like either names myself, but on someone else’s child it is a good combination. I prefer [name]Hugo[/name] to [name]Hugh[/name].
We’re thinking about other possible middles for [name]Hugh[/name] right now, with [name]Roland[/name] becoming the default if we can’t find something we love. Our last name begins with T so we’re staying away from names beginning with O and A - though we both have a soft spot for [name]Augusten[/name]/[name]Augustin[/name]/[name]August[/name]. We would also like to avoid a G/J sound to eliminate the sound of [name]Hugh[/name] running right into a Guh sound calling to mind “huge.”
Some ideas right now:
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Philip[/name] (we’ve nixed that one, but it gives you an idea of what style we like, classics)
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Rupert[/name]
As I said, we’re not feeling that “this is it!” with any of these so I’d love to hear new suggestions!
Thanks in advance
A lovely name. So masculine, classy and unfussy.
