Hugo Cox - too teasable?

I have a son, [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] aka [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], who is 6 months old. I am not pregnant yet but we plan on ttc again soon. When naming [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], our top two picks were [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. I loooved [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] but ultimately we didn’t use it as we were concerned that with our surname, Cox, it was too teasable.

We have absolutely no other names we can agree on if we have another boy. We love [name_u]George[/name_u] but our fave girl name is a ‘J’ sound ([name_f]Josephine[/name_f]) and we wouldn’t want the ‘J/G’ sound repeated. We loved [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] but it has become too popular. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband likes [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], but i’m not a big fan. I quite like [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] and [name_u]Milo[/name_u], but they’re too ‘out there’ for my husband.

So is [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] out? Or can we agree on it as out top pick if we have another boy…?

It took me a minute to get it, but yeah, I think so

Unfortunately, in this case, I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] isn’t the best choice. I like your other choices!

Yeah I think that’s too awkward unfortunately

Suggestion [name_u]Milo[/name_u] or [name_m]Hamish[/name_m]?

Probably not in elementary school (K-4), but there is definitely teasing potential for the years beyond that.

If you’d like to blur out the offending meaning (by going to settings when editing the post and clicking "blur spoiler), there are younger people on the site. It’s definitely an unfortunate surname to pair!

I think it should probably be taken off the table, which is a shame, because [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] are so handsome together!

I think I’d skip [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] I’m afraid

Oscar, [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] came to mind

I’m sorry but I wouldn’t I thought of it as soon as I read the name.

I’m sorry, but I think it’s out. Kids are ruthless once they pick up on this kind of thing.

Totally unusable.

I’m afraid so.

Sorry, I agree that it’s too teasable.

What about [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] (or [name_m]Louis[/name_m] if you prefer)? There’s something about [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] that goes so well with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] to me.

I feel like [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] or another [name_m]Leo[/name_m] type name (I really like [name_m]Leander[/name_m]) could be right up your alley as well.

What about [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] nn [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] or [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]?

Hope you can find something else you both like

I think it’s out given your last name, I’m sorry, it’s really a lovely name. If you like [name_u]Milo[/name_u] and your husband likes [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], what about [name_m]Leo[/name_m] or [name_u]Theo[/name_u]?

It took me a minute to realize what you meant…but once I got it, I would say 100% absolutely not. Sorry.

Unfortunately, that jumped out at me right away. Middle school/high school kids would be merciless.

I do love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], but that are many good names. In that vein, I like [name_u]Basil[/name_u], [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] (they are on my list with [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] included), and maybe [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Nigel[/name_m], or [name_m]Graham[/name_m].
