Hugo Samuel John

Honest opinions wanted please!

My husband is VERY keen on this combination for our baby boy arriving in [name_f]May[/name_f]. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is my father-in-law’s name and [name_m]John[/name_m] is my father’s name. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think this goes okay with [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]?

My preferred combinations are [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] ([name_u]James[/name_u] is my husband’s name). I’m not sold on [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] just yet.

I think you really can’t go wrong with any of these combos - they’re all very handsome. It’s more a matter of who it’s most important to honour, or simply what names you love the most. Sometimes honour trumps love, sometimes love trumps honour. For me personally with my little man I am finding live trumps honour this time around just so I can get the flow and spunk I’m after. But sometimes I wonder if I’ll regret not going with the honour names, it’s a tough decision. Ultimately one that gets decided through a mutual negotiation with DH. I love them all. My previous favorite for you was [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], but [name_m]John[/name_m] is also a solid choice. I’m not big on [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] as I feel it’s too popular these days but as a middle it’s fine. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] is also lovely. I can see why you’re having a hard time deciding. GL

I do prefer the 3 combos you like but [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] is a lovely way to honor your fathers. It goes very well with your daughter’s name so that’s not a problem. What does your husband think of your combos? Would you sacrifice the combos you like for honor names?

All of your options are very distinguished and go very well with your daughter’s name. For me, knowing a name has meaning makes me like it way more, so the [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] combo immediately became more endearing to me. I do love your preferred combos - they feel a bit more current and peppy - but [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] is so very classic. Plus, it sounds like your DH doesn’t care much about the honor. [name_f]Do[/name_f] the other names in your combos have meaning to you?

Is the issue that your prefer your picks or that you dislike your husband’s honorific combo? If you don’t dislike [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m], I think I would personally err on going with the honorifics, particularly since the names in question are the middle and not likely to be used every day.

All four combos are lovely, but I’m partial to [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is a personal favorite, and the name is a very nice way to honor the grandfathers. Second choice would be [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].

All the combinations are lovely and I have to agree with the others, you really can’t go wrong. Having said that my favourites would be [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].

I think it goes perfectly with [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] has the same sweet simplicity as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]John[/name_m] are timeless classics.

Neither [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] nor [name_m]John[/name_m] are personal favorites but they don’t have any significance to me either so I naturally prefer the other combos. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]? I think it feels a little younger and a little more energetic but you get one lovely, well-flowing honor name in there, too.

I honestly think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] is wonderful next to [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] & [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] & [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_m]John[/name_m]. I would pair those names as sibsets.

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] gives me the same feeling as [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m].

Anyway, I think you can’t go wrong with any of these names. They all are very elegant and handsome.

I think my favorite of your combinations is [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]. However, I like the flow better when the middle names are switched: [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. Perhaps you would like it more in that order?
