I am expecting twins, gender unknown, and my husband has just vetoed one of my top names (Rainer) . Lately I can’t get [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] out of my head but my oldest is named [name_u]Jackson[/name_u]. Is that a total mismatch? Does it matter? There is a 12 year age gap. I don’t typically like the country vibe names that are suggested as a sibling for [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] altho I do like surnames… I feel like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is so handsome and sounds great with our surname. I don’t want any other son names altho I think [name_m]Watson[/name_m] is very nice. Other names I like are:
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] (someone in our extended family just used [name_u]Finnley[/name_u], so that may be unusable now??)
[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]
[name_u]Axel[/name_u] - my husband doesn’t feel like this is the one.

I love Finn,Thatcher and Archer,I think [name_u]Finn[/name_u] could work if it’s only extended family ,I personally don’t like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] much,I study in [name_u]Germany[/name_u] and it’s a dog and cat name there,that really ruined it for me
If you came asking for a style match for [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], I probably wouldn’t come up with Hugo–but honestly, I think they work really well together! I say go for it. I actually much prefer that pairing over going for matchy-ness with another “-son” name. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite from the rest of your list is Finn; depending on how distant that relative is, I think it could potentially be usable. I also think [name_u]Archer[/name_u] is a really nice match for [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], if you particularly want style coordination! Other ideas…

Some of the other names are lovely but are used by close family or friends.
Yes, [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is one of the very few my husband really likes so I wish/hope it is still usable. It is my first cousin’s baby, although she lives in a different province and we don’t see each other even yearly…. I was close to her family growing up and we do stay in contact periodically (like when we have babies!) I’m assuming they will call him [name_u]Finnley[/name_u] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u], but I don’t know. [name_f]My[/name_f] granny and her sister have children with the same name So at one time this didn’t matter at all.

And I adore Hugo; it’s such a strong, interesting, sophisticated name! I quite like [name_m]Watson[/name_m], although I don’t love that it matches the -son ending of your son’s name and that [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is the odd one out…
I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] can work with [name_u]Jackson[/name_u]. A third name that has something in common with both could tie them together (something that could be either “country” or international). I also like [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] with [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] a lot.
I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] fit just fine together! I don’t think they’re such different styles that you would get weird looks when introducing them. If you love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], go with [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]!
