Hugo

Not expecting- just curious, what vibe does the name Hugo give you?

I feel like I get two very different answers. Also, is the name overly British?

As always, thank you in advance for your input

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is gorgeous!

I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is lovely he’s smart, distinguished, classic, very handsome and has a European feel to him. I do not associate him with being [name_f]British[/name_f] in my eyes he feels very European. [name_f]Imagery[/name_f] wise I feel that [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] has autumnal imagery I picture oversized jumpers, pumpkins, autumn foliage, cosy evenings, toasted marshmallows and harvest period. At the same time I also picture dark academia imagery such as dark gothic libraries, stain glass windows, beautiful books and frosty days.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

I agree with the previous poster - not [name_f]British[/name_f], European! Mostly a British-French-German mixed vibe. Although, I know a few Hugos from Australia so it’s started to have a slight Aussie feel too!

For its ‘vibe’ I see it in two different ways! One is the stereotypical :mantelpiece_clock::hourglass_flowing_sand::wilted_flower::briefcase::old_key::wine_glass::steam_locomotive: vibe you usually see associated with it. Old-timey, elegant, serious yet romantic, maybe even a bit steampunk. And the other is… I can see [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] as a really cool, laid-back chill guy who wears golden frame glasses & patterned button-down shirts and collects vinyls. If that makes any sense

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] has a sort of cuddly, vintage vibe - a hint of elegance but fun and cute too

Kind, sensitive, intelligent, charismatic - not overly [name_f]British[/name_f], no.

I get the vibe of a big, hulking, muscle-y meathead who’s very mean. I dunno where this comes from, but it has always soured me on this name. Maybe like an old cartoon or something??

Very bluto and ludo, which may be why some people tell me they can’t take the name seriously?

Scandinavian perspective:
Age: 15-25. Kind, either very tall or short, athletic but not overly competitive. [name_m]Boy[/name_m] next door kinda vibe.

(Can’t judge if it’s British)

I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is very dark academia and clock tower, victor hugo comes to mind. I worry about if the association is too strong or just a pleasant thought.

I was just asking my husband and oldest what they thought about [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] 13yo said it reminds him of a hunchback, but that doesn’t make him dislike it. :person_shrugging: [name_f]My[/name_f] husband really liked it and chose it over [name_m]Silas[/name_m] (I sometimes throw 2 names at him and ask him which he likes better). They both agreed it was better than [name_m]Silas[/name_m], actually.

I work in a locally owned health food store and I have a little 2yo regular named [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. He has the chunkiest cheeks! So adorable! He’s really made me fall for the name and pretty much all I think of now when I hear it is chubby cheeks.
