Thank you berries!
I love [name]Cordelia[/name]! The middle names go really well too, and hold meaning to you. [name]Delia[/name] is a cute nickname, but [name]Cordelia[/name] is a beautiful name on its own, so I would just trust your gut on this one! [name]Do[/name] you know what changed your husbands mind on [name]Odette[/name]? They’re both really beautiful names regardless which you choose!
thanks kristen
i [name]LOVE[/name] your names as well - congrats on the upcoming little girl!!
I think the flow of [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] is a little awkward because both names end in “ia” What about [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Snow[/name]? I prefer [name]Sylvie[/name] as a mn-I think it flows better.
I really don’t like how [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Sylvia[/name] Go together. It sounds to similar. [name]Odette[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] sounds much better. Is there a way you could negotiate for the first name, since you are honoring his grandmother with a middle name?
I agree- I also prefer [name]Sylvie[/name] due to the ‘ia’ endings.
Personally, I am glad [name]Odette[/name] is off the cards- sorry but not a fan.
[name]Emilia[/name]
I love [name]Cordelia[/name]!
I like [name]Cordelia[/name], but I agree with a previous posters that [name]Sylvie[/name] works better than [name]Sylvia[/name] as a mn.
What do you think of [name]Colette[/name]? Kind of sounds like [name]Odette[/name], but maybe your husband would like it better. And then you could still use [name]Sylvia[/name] as the mn.
I’m glad you’ve decided to use 2 middles! And [name]Snow[/name] is so lovely and unique. I like [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Snow[/name] or [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Snow[/name], but not [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] (both beautiful names, but combo sounds a bit like [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name])
Possible [name]Odette[/name]-replacements:
[name]Odessa[/name]
[name]Adessa[/name] (my sister’s name - everyone she meets loves her name)
[name]Cosette[/name]
Aurette
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Ophelia[/name]
[name]Odessa[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Snow[/name]
[name]Odessa[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Snow[/name]
[name]Cosette[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Snow[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Snow[/name]
[name]Ophelia[/name] [name]Odette[/name] [name]Snow[/name]
Good luck
I like [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Odette[/name] [name]Snow[/name]. Are you set on having something to honor [name]Sylvia[/name] in the middle? If not, I’d replace it with [name]Odette[/name].
[name]Cordelia[/name] seems to be a Nameberry favorite that doesn’t always translate well in the real world. I think the problem is that a lot of people simply have never heard it before, so they’re a bit thrown when they encounter it for the first time. (Apparently the memory of [name]Buffy[/name] is fading or they aren’t exactly big [name]King[/name] Lear fans.) That being said, it’s a lovely, ancient name with numerous nickname options. ([name]Cora[/name], [name]Cory[/name], [name]Delia[/name], [name]Del[/name], [name]Lia[/name], etc.) I know you wrote that you plan to call her [name]Cordelia[/name] in full, but it’s nice to know that if SHE wants a usable nickname, she’ll have options - the one thing that I don’t like about [name]Odette[/name] is that it doesn’t nickname easliy. (And what girl wants to be called [name]Odie[/name]?)
I think [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name] sounds fine - since the stress is on different letters in each of the names, I don’t think it rhymes (that) much.
I love [name]Cordelia[/name]! It sounds beautiful, has a wonderful meaning, and a great literary reference. And so many great nicknames! I agree with the comment above re: [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name]. The accents are totally on different syllables in each name so I think it flows nicely. Great choice!
