It’s that time again when my husband and I go through millions of names and constantly “veto” each other on the selections. My husband is driving me bonkers with his constant googling of the term “Viking [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Names” and “Warrior [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Names that [name_m]Kick[/name_m] Butt” and I am about to throw in the towel. We are expecting and unfortunately do not know the sex of the child though the ultrasound tech leaned heavily on the girl side. So I figured we could use some help. We live in the south and often look for names that no one tends to have (I am a teacher and teaching every year has killed my love for some names) We have a daughter ([name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]) and a son ([name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m]). [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is English/Welsh and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is [name_m]French[/name_m]. [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] is mostly [name_m]French[/name_m] I believe. I am [name_m]French[/name_m] in descent and my husband is English so we often lean on those names. I am just at a lost with names this time. He is coming up with boy only names and I am left to create a list of girl names. I was leaning towards [name_u]Sutton[/name_u]. It’s not a name often heard and I just checked and it looked English. What do you guys think about middle names for this? [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] seems to be popular but my husband says that the religious theme is very common down here along with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] which is super traditional. I thought maybe [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f]? [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]? I am lost and any suggestions would be great! Thanks so much!
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is pretty and I don’t think [name_f]Grace[/name_f] being a common middle name should stop you. [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] and [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] are both pretty, although I think [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] makes the full name a little T-heavy. Other middles you might like:
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] and [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] are vastly more interesting than [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. For a boy I might recommend the you choose a name, he chooses a name method.
I love the previous suggestion of [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. I can’t think of anything more perfect than that–[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] aren’t so stylistically different that they’re jarring when paired together, but [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] gives [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] a sweet, Southern belle feel. They flow together nicely. Obviously, [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is [name_m]French[/name_m]. And it’s an unexpected combination, not as standard as [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], which is very pretty too.
If you don’t like that pairing, though, here are a few other ideas:
Maybe there is a name with a strong, powerful meaning that could serve as a compromise to appease your “clueless” husband? Some less common names that might go well with [name_u]Sutton[/name_u]:
