Husbands input

So I recently spoke to my husband casually about girls names. He vetoed my [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] () but said he was okay with [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. So what do you think of [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] together? It is unlikely that I would have more than 1 more, but I can see that it looks like Iā€™ve locked myself into a theme. Does that turn you off? Any other L names that you think would work in this set (not saying I would commit to all Lā€™s, just curious)? [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is a family name that my mother specifically asked me to use for a girl, so I do recognise that itā€™s a filler, but would use it anyway. TIA!

I think they sound great together! The matching initials donā€™t bother me. I donā€™t think youā€™ve locked yourself into a pattern though - three would be a pattern, but two is a coincidence.

Other L names:

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f]
[name_m]Lorcan[/name_m]
[name_f]Lumi[/name_f]
[name_u]Louie[/name_u] / [name_m]Louis[/name_m] / [name_u]Louise[/name_u]
[name_u]Laurence[/name_u]

[name_u]Liam[/name_u] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] are lovely together. Iā€™d look for another sweet, bright name with a fun vintage feel, maybe [name_f]Lana[/name_f] or [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].

But I definitely think you could go for a non-L name as well. Maybe something like [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] or [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].

For another L name, Iā€™d useā€¦

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Leni[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f]

but I agree with @katinka that a non-L name would be just fine!! With your potential set I like ā€¦

[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
Margo/Margot
[name_f]Kat[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]

I donā€™t think youā€™re locked into a theme but [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] or [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] would go nicely too.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! [name_f]Lola[/name_f] has been a longtime favorite of mine! I love [name_u]Liam[/name_u] & [name_f]Lola[/name_f] together!

Both of my daughters have L names. I really tried for it not to be that way so not to lock ourselves into a theme and I never imagined myself naming my children with matching initials. Yet, for our youngest daughter it was the one & only name we could agree on, we both truly loved it, it had significant meaning for us and our family, and when she was born it seemed to just fit her. Therefore, [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] & [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] it was for our girlsā€™ names.

Now, if we have another child, would we use another L name? Nope! I used to think we had to, but after some time, I thought through other creative ways to make it flow well. If we end up having a son, he will be our longtime favorite name, [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. We have loved it for as long as we can remember. While [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] often goes by her full name, others outside of family refer to her as [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I love the subtle connection of all 4 letter names [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], & [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. If itā€™s a girl, we would likely name her a full name that doesnā€™t begin with an L, but has an L nickname. Such as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ā€œLibbyā€, [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] ā€œLottieā€, [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] ā€œLiviā€, [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] ā€œLettieā€. [name_u]Or[/name_u] possibly a name that could be used as a double name if we wanted to incorporate another L name, such as, [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u].

I encourage you to choose your very favorite for this specific child and not to worry too much about future names. If there happens to be another child, you will find the name that fits perfectly for him/her, while also flows well with the sibling group.

I like [name_u]Liam[/name_u], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Livia[/name_f] or Lucille/Lucia:slight_smile: Also something like [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] would be nice. For a boy maybe [name_u]Lennon[/name_u].
