Hyacinth

This is a minor character in a book I am reading (not Bridgerton even though I know there is one too).

Pros and Cons of Hyacinth ?

Pros: lovely flower
unique

Cons: sounds a little harsh to me
maybe trying a little hard to be unique?

Pros…
-feels very bright and kicky
-nature connections!!!
-unique but not utterly unheard of as a word
-looks super cool

Cons…
-Hard to spell (especially for non-native speakers of English)
-no obvious nicknames (Cynthie?)

I was also exposed to this name in a book, when I was a little child! I liked it then and I absolutely do now. I didn’t know [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] was a Bridgerton name, but I think that gives it an extra boost of familiarity in the world that could be really helpful— makes it more heard-of, not not tied only to that one show!

[name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] pros:

  • distinct and floral
  • it has both sharpness and frillyness
  • feels new and established at the same time

Cons:

  • could be considered difficult or heavy to wear
  • not sure what nn I’d go for (Cynthia maybe but that feels like a name of its own?)

I always think of [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] Bucket from Keeping up Appearances. Not necessarily a bad thing (she’s a hilarious character lol).

  • familiar, but not at all common
  • smooth, gentle sound

Cons:

  • long w/ no obvious nicknames
  • kind of a ‘big’ name – maybe tough to wear, not very versatile, kind of showy, etc.
