I pronounce it as [name_u]Dash[/name_u]-ull and would preferably call him [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] not [name_u]Dash[/name_u]. I’m finding it hard to match girl names with it. All of my favorite boys names seem to match.
I love [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] for the writer reference and that’s it’s a Scottish/French surname. The story goes that the family, de Chiel, were [name_u]French[/name_u] Huguenots and moved to [name_u]Scotland[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] ancestry has a familiar story. The meaning is unknown but many say it means from the sky or heaven.

I love the idea of using another Scottish name. I’ve never heard of [name_f]Marsaili[/name_f] before. I’ll look into it. I like that sail is included in the name. Really cute!
