So I’m a really big fan of the name [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], and very recently [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. They’re such beautiful, strong boys names. However, though there are more girl names in my signature than boys, I’m not as enraptured with any of them as I am with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m].
I really love [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] and [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] (I have a [name_m]Greco[/name_m]-[name_m]Roman[/name_m] trend going on here), but they’re sort of out-there. Not that I mind, but it would be nice to find a girls’ name that is as uncommon as [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], yet just as familiar and easily recognizable.
I’m open to everything, but brownie points for [name_m]Greco[/name_m]-[name_m]Roman[/name_m] names ![]()
In addition, does anyone else have the inexplicable problem where they like one gender of names much better than the other? What are your faves from that gender?
I love boys names much more than girls names. My style tends to change by whatever is influencing me at the time and if I’ve only heard of it reacently.
I love [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m], obviously can’t use them both. I love [name_u]Cal[/name_u] on it’s own, but I don’t especially feel any of the long versions, same with [name_u]Kit[/name_u].
As for [name_m]Greco[/name_m]-[name_m]Roman[/name_m] names, I had a brief phase of Greek names, so I have a list, some ones that might work for you are [name_f]Accalia[/name_f], [name_u]Damaris[/name_u], [name_f]Clea[/name_f], [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f], [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], [name_f]Hester[/name_f], [name_f]Philomena[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], [name_f]Iola[/name_f], [name_f]Indigo[/name_f], [name_f]Lux[/name_f], [name_f]Thalia[/name_f], [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f], and [name_f]Zoya[/name_f].
My personal favourites from my list were [name_u]Hali[/name_u] ([name_m]Hal[/name_m]-e, not [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]) and [name_f]Electra[/name_f]. I love that [name_u]Hali[/name_u] means the sea and [name_f]Electra[/name_f] sounds pretty spunky.
With [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] I think another literary name would be cool…(not all of these match that though)

I absolutely adore [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]; it’s currently no. 1 for me
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m] is brilliant too! I love both of the books that those names came from. Would you be looking for another book name or not especially?
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (don’t know where you are… here in Australia this name is top 20, which makes me really sad. In the US it’s somewhere around the 600-700 mark though, I believe)
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
Best of luck!
I have a lot more girl names I like, but I don’t like any of them as much as I love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (which has been my number 1 for years, while my girls keeps changing)
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and…
[name_f]Acadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amadea[/name_f]
[name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]

[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
Victaria
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] are actually what came to my mind first; not so [name_m]Greco[/name_m]-[name_m]Roman[/name_m] though…
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] - Shakespearian so you have the obvious literary connection to go with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] & [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], and it’s a variant from [name_f]Helen[/name_f] of [name_m]Troy[/name_m]. It might not be "different’ enough for you, but think about it.
I love [name_f]Athena[/name_f] too, but would prefer a literary name for you.
I love [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] and [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]! [name_f]Althea[/name_f] is very similar but might feel more accessible. It ranked in the U.S. top 1000 for a long time.
(And now I see that [name_f]Althea[/name_f] is already in your signature!)
Otherwise …
[name_f]Hera[/name_f]
[name_f]Ione[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_u]Calypso[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Portia[/name_f]
[name_f]Iolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]
[name_f]Tullia[/name_f]
Amaranth
[name_f]Eleni[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
To be honest, the more I think about, I think you’ve already hit what you’re looking for with [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] or [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]. Neither are common names, but I don’t think that either of them seems too out there.
I just looked up the statistics - [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] was given to 703 boys in the U.S. last year, [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] to 55 boys, [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] to 116 girls, and [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] to 28 girls. ([name_f]Althea[/name_f] was given to 72 girls.)
Another name that just came to my attention is [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]. I like that it’s a place name, just like [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] (man from Attica) and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] (like the sea). It also incorporates the [name_m]Greco[/name_m]-[name_m]Roman[/name_m] feel and my love of “th” lispy sounds. What do you guys think?
Well, if place names are what interest you, [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] would be a good choice with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. It’s similar to [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] which is one of my faves. All of the three names would have s’s in them.
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] seems quite complicated and has a modern feel, while [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] strike me as very sophisticated. [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] seems like some american parents liked the name [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] but wanted to be more unique than others. But that’s just my opinion of course.
I loved the suggestions of the other people and don’t feel like I have more to add.
My favourite was [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] (simply because I adore the name).
