My real name is [name]BreAnna[/name] middle name [name]Michele[/name], and I haven’t ever liked it. When I was a kid i went threw a lot of nicknames, and thought a lot about renaming myself since I was 5. [name]BreAnna[/name] is a unique spelling, but I dont like how common it is, and [name]Michele[/name] is a little to girly for my taste. I love the names:
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Prudence[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
I like the middle names [name]Rene[/name], [name]Emerson[/name], and [name]Rose[/name], so put together:
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Rene[/name] [name]Emerson[/name],
[name]Prudence[/name] [name]Atlas[/name] [name]Rose[/name],
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rene[/name]
I like [name]Beatrice[/name], but some tell me it is a little old fashioned(which could be a problem) and [name]Penelope[/name] might be a little young sounding, but I haven’t run into any problems with the name [name]Prudence[/name], and I’m open to suggestions.
[name]Prudence[/name] is old fashioned. [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Rose[/name] sounds better.
[name]Atlas[/name] [name]Rene[/name]?
hmm…
I do like [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Emerson[/name] and [name]Rose[/name]. I find [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Rene[/name] and [name]Atlas[/name] quite nice as well. I’m really sorry but I dislike [name]Prudence[/name], but thats just my opinion.
If I were you I would call myself (out of the names you have chosen) either:
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Atlas[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]
Good luck xo
I personally don’t think you should change your name.
My thoughts exactly. You will always have the “I used to be [name]BreAnna[/name]” hanging over your head. And the "I’m actually [name]BreAnna[/name] not (fill in name here)
Yea I do not think you should change it either. I see a name as almost something special. And you grew up with it, its what your parents decided to name you when they first saw your little face. Its what they chose and called you when they first held you. Its almost sacred. I know you may not like it but I do not think you should change it. Maybe use a nickname that isn’t an obvious one?
I don’t think anyone should go through life hating their name so I think you should go for it! From your choices I like [name]Penelope[/name]. [name]Beatrice[/name] is also nice but I have never responded to it for some reason. I don’t really care for [name]Prudence[/name]. I think when you are changing your name rather then naming an infant different rules apply. I think you need to feel it suits you and you can see yourself being called by that name so I don’t really think that other people’s input is as relevant in your situation. I would suggest you try them on in your head and see which you feel represents you the best. I also think because you will probably get some negative feedback about changing your name as with the above posters you should not choose something that it too unusual which none of your choices are with the possible exception of [name]Prudence[/name]. Good luck to you!
I love [name]Prudence[/name] [name]Atlas[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. Gorgeous.
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Rene[/name] would be nice, as [name]Beatrice[/name] “[name]Bea[/name]” sort of reminds me of [name]BreAnna[/name]… it has some of the original letters and you could even ease people into the transition by asking them to call you “[name]Bea[/name]”. It would make sense as a nn for [name]BreAnna[/name]. If people think [name]Beatrice[/name] is old-fashioned, why not ask how they feel about [name]Beatrix[/name] instead? The x might modernize it a bit for some opinions.
I think if you’ve really disliked your name for this long then you should change it. Why keep something that makes you unhappy just because of how other people feel about it? Choose something that you love and makes sense to your personality, there will be times when you will have to explain that your name used to be [name]BreAnna[/name] (like in job applications etc) but people will either understand or get over it. Good luck!
Actually, I think [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] sounds even more girly than [name]Michele[/name]. I second [name]Beatrix[/name] though.
I think that I like [name]Rene[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]- [name]Rene[/name] being the first and [name]Beatrice[/name] being the middle, because the first name [name]Rene[/name] is very nice and I don’t mind [name]Beatrice[/name] for a middle, but if you have your heart set on the other way around, I don’t mind [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Rene[/name]. I think that out of the names you’ve given these are the best, although I don’t mind [name]Atlas[/name] or [name]Emerson[/name]. And for the record, I think you have a unique and beautiful name
Not necessarily if she’s young enough that she’s never worked under that name (and all her school records from high school forwards are changed). Otherwise, adoptees would have to explain they were adopted (and if a placeholder was put in on your original birth certificate you’d have to mention that you were once legally “[name]Baby[/name]” or whatever was put in place!). The OP didn’t mention her current age, but since we sometimes have teens on here looking for advice if she happens to be one (and gets it changed with her parents’ permission) her future experiences won’t be the same as someone who got an adult paper trail under their former name.
I don’t think anyone should have to go through life hating their name. Some people might think changing your name is weird, but so what? Go for it!
I really like [name]Prudence[/name] [name]Atlas[/name] [name]Rose[/name]! It’s beautiful! I love [name]Atlas[/name]! I don’t know what you have in mind, but I like the idea of the nickname [name]Pru[/name].
I’ve never cared for [name]Beatrice[/name] too much, but I love [name]Beatrix[/name] (nn [name]Trixie[/name] or [name]Bea[/name])! I would really like [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Rose[/name]! [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would be lovely too though!
[name]Hi[/name]! I’m changing my name too, so I can understand how you feel. I’m another person who likes [name]Prudence[/name] [name]Atlas[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Rose[/name]! I think the nicknames [name]Pru[/name], Trixe, and [name]Bea[/name] would be cute too (If you plan on using a nickname). Also, I definitely don’t think [name]Penelope[/name] is too young sounding. I’ve seen it on all ages. I don’t think of any particular age when I hear [name]Penelope[/name].
I have quite a bit of name angst, so I feel you. There’s nothing wrong with changing it. Be aware that family will almost always call you your old name. Unless you’re famous, people find it strange when they discover you were born something different. But whatever. It’s your life, not theirs, right?
Since you like “[name]Beatrix[/name],” have you thought about “[name]Bee[/name]”? It could easily work as a nn for [name]BreAnna[/name], but you wouldn’t have to bother legally changing it, or even explaining to everyone. It’s natural and feels right. [name]Even[/name] [name]Bea[/name] (pronoucned bee-uh) could work as a nickname for [name]BreAnna[/name]. [name]Beebee[/name]/[name]Bibi[/name]/[name]Bebe[/name] also works.
On your list, I really like [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. Gorgeous name.
[name]Beatrix[/name] sounds a bit more modern. I’d probably keep the name and go by [name]Bren[/name] or [name]Brenna[/name].
I changed my name and do not have “I used to be…” over my head unless I bring it up myself.
I chose to change my name as my name brought only negative connotations to me. I do not have a good relationship with my parents, for reason I won’t say here. Its the best decision I have ever made. I know for a fact my parents didn’t put much thought into my name and I know for a fact they didn’t give a toss that I changed it.
