I AM STUCK ! :-( We can´t agree on any name

Hello Everyone

My [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Boy Twins are due in about three weeks but my husband and I still haven´t figured their names out because we just can´t agree on any name. It is a mess. First of all one of them will most likely be called [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] ( First Name ) but neither one of us can come up with a middle name. He will probably end up having no middle name just like his older brother [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. ( We couldn´t agree on a middle name when he was born either. ) Anyway, since my husband doesn´t like any of the names I propose for the other twin ( like [name_u]Francis[/name_u], which I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] although all of the names would then end with - s and that does sound kind of stupid in my ears when I say them all at once; or [name_m]Levi[/name_m], a name I like a lot, too ) I ask you. My husband would like the name one of them after his father, [name_m]Henry[/name_m] because his grandfather´s name is [name_m]Henry[/name_m], his father´s name is [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and his name is [name_m]Henry[/name_m], too. I am not completely against this idea but I would rather use another name. What would you do ?

[name_m]How[/name_m] would you name a brother to [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] ?

Would you add a middle name for the twins even though their older brother has no middle name ?
If the answer to that question is yes, what middle name would you use ?

I really hope this will help because I am starting to worry, a lot !

Thank You all in advance

hmm. I really like all the names you’ve mentioned, and think there is even good first name/middle name potential using just these names ([name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m], [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] & [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] & [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u], etc…) BUT I’m not sure about using middles when [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] does not have one. I don’t know, it’s a tough call, but I think I would feel disappointed/slightly cheated if my siblings had middle names and I didn’t. Unless [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] was special in some other way, like an important honor name.

I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] should be used since it’s a family tradition and important to your partner. Whether it’s [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m], no middles. Or [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] _______ & _______ [name_m]Henry[/name_m], if you can agree on using [name_m]Henry[/name_m] as a middle instead.

Good luck!

You are making progress! I love both [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] (I would do nn [name_u]Gus[/name_u]) and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]! I also love [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and think it would work as a first name with [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], especially [name_u]Gus[/name_u] & [name_m]Henry[/name_m] - so cute. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is also a great middle name. Two names that immediately came to mind as first names are [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] & [name_m]Tobias[/name_m].

[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] & [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] ([name_m]Wes[/name_m])
[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] & [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] ([name_u]Toby[/name_u])

• [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] & [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m], [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
• [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] & [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
• [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] & [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]

I also like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] ([name_u]Theo[/name_u]), [name_m]Charles[/name_m] ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u]) and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] with [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]!

So many great combos with [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] & [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and matching names! [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m]!

Yes, [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] ( 3 ) is named after one of our dearest friends who died four years ago due to cancer. That is the reason why my husband didn´t argue when I said no to naming our first child [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. So I think he wouldn´t feel left out. I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] - let´s see what [name_m]Henry[/name_m] thinks of it.

I don’t think all of the names ending in -s sounds stupid at all! [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] are beautifully strong names and I think [name_u]Francis[/name_u] fits in perfectly. I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] works as well, but doesn’t quite fit in as well stylistically as [name_u]Francis[/name_u] does. ([name_m]Frank[/name_m] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is an adorable combination) Plus, that’s a lot of [name_m]Henry[/name_m]'s in one family! Because of those reasons, I think it works better in the middle spot, like maurab suggested. I think it’s fine if the twins have middles and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] doesn’t.

Suggestions:

[name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] - Wow, stunning!
[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] with [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]

[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Leopold[/name_m]

Other first names to pair with [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]:
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] ([name_m]Hugh[/name_m] & [name_u]Gus[/name_u]!)
[name_m]Euan[/name_m]
[name_u]Leland[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]

Thoughts on these ideas? Good luck, congratulations on twins!

I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is a good fit.

I like [name_u]Francis[/name_u] best with [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. I think the suggestion of [name_m]Frank[/name_m] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] as NNs is awesome.

I also like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] in the MN spot and think that’s a better fit both with all the Henrys and just with flow among the other two. But, if one twin gets a MN, I think the other definitely should, too.

[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]’ name is special enough to stand on its own. You have [name_m]Henry[/name_m] to give [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] a special family tie (or [name_u]Francis[/name_u], but i prefer [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] to [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] – it’s close, though!). It would be great if you could come up with another family for [name_u]Francis[/name_u] (or [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]).

I think that [name_m]Henry[/name_m] goes really well with these names and it is a nice family connection!

Also, if middle names are a struggle for you then you should repeat what you started with your first son and skip them altogether.

[name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] and
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Hugh[/name_m]

I think it would be nice to use [name_m]Henry[/name_m] as your other sons first name! If not then definitely use it as a middle name. Both of the twins should be fine with middle names, the significance of [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]’ name makes it special on it’s own.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] is a great combination.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m]/ [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] and…
[name_m]Frederic[/name_m]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m]
[name_m]Oswin[/name_m] / [name_m]Oswald[/name_m]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_m]Cadoc[/name_m]
[name_m]Morris[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
[name_m]Foster[/name_m]

I would do [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] ([name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_m]Wes[/name_m]) and I kind of like the fact that all three boys would have strong s sounds in their names. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] and [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] sound very well matched in my opinion.

It is more common in some traditions to name a second son as a junior. I would skip the middle names and have [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. [name_f]DO[/name_f] you do nicknames for your kiddos? [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Augie[/name_m] are adorable.
