We are torned between:
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] or [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]
[name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
I have the hardest time to select the one I prefer and I don’t want to regret later.
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is my all time favorite. It’s been on my list since 2009 (I was 15-16) and I have always thought my first boy would be an [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. It’s sadly quite popular in [name_f]France[/name_f] right now.
[name_u]Everest[/name_u] is a more recent crush (maybe 2015-2016?). We love that it’s a rare nature name, easy to pronounce in french and in english. My husband seems to prefer [name_u]Everest[/name_u] lately.
[name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] is amazing!!
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] would be my second pic, or, if i could mix things up, [name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] or [name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]
I understand the popularity concern but [name_u]Elliott[/name_u][name_m]Caspian[/name_m][name_u]Lou[/name_u]
Is amazing! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. So I think I would use it anyway.
I really like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]. If you’ve loved the name for so long, it would be a shame if you didnt use it. However, if you and your husband are more on board with [name_u]Everest[/name_u], go with that name.
Great names either way!
An alternative that incorporates both name… [name_u]Everett[/name_u].
I love [name_u]Everest[/name_u] for how it is a nature name and uncommon, but known. Actually, [name_u]Everest[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] would be a nice sibset should you ever have another boy. They do begin with the same letter but the sounds are so different that they work well together. If you still love both names equally by the time little one arrives and your husband prefers [name_u]Everest[/name_u], then it is likely the one you should choose, although both names are lovely.
They’re very similar
Also quite different
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think if in the future you had a second son you would like them as names for brothers or does the use of one preclude the use of the other? [name_m]Will[/name_m] you be sad not to have your [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]?
Either would be well received and I like both but prefer [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] or a variation of spelling
Thank you for your detailed answer, I appreciate it!
The problem is that I can picture myself dropping [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] off at a birthday party AND I can see myself reading a story to my little [name_u]Everest[/name_u]. I feel like I love them equally, and both have an important place in my heart.
I would totally use them as names for brothers, but that means I need to have two boys… which is unpredictable haha.
Thank you!
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is so lovely! I’m not a massive fan of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] but it’s great in this combination; the flow is perfect! If I could mix and match though I’d choose [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]… it’s perfect in my opinion, as is [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] for me.
I totally understand your dilemma and the fear of regret. The thing is, the names are both great (as the responses to this thread show!) and somewhat similar, so I think it really comes down to personal preference…
I find it difficult to choose between [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_u]Everest[/name_u] myself! My first instinct is to prefer [name_u]Everest[/name_u], mainly because it is less common than [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. I also worry that there are several spelling variations of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] which would have to be explained. However, [name_u]Everest[/name_u] also has a bit of a colonial history/association which puts me off ever so slightly; your mileage may differ there. When all is said and done, neither of those are big issues in the long run and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] wins out by just a tiny bit in my mind.
Does it help to think about the differences in potential nicknames (Ev/[name_u]Ever[/name_u] vs. [name_f]El[/name_f]/[name_f]Elli[/name_f]?)
I definitely prefer [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], and I don’t think you should let the popularity sway you too much because you’ve loved it so long. [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is beautiful.
[name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] is Awesome!
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is popular on both genders, and to me it is now sounding more feminine.
