I can only think of boy names...

My husband and I have a relatively easy time agreeing on boys names, strong yet classy/preppy. But we’re having trouble coming up with girls names that are not super common, but are still pronounceable. We like the idea of a feminine name that still has some gusto behind it, no wilting flowers… Here’s the list.

boy names-
[name]Odin[/name]
[name]Clark[/name]
[name]Marshall[/name]
[name]Pierce[/name]
[name]Dane[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name]

girl names so far-
[name]Ariana[/name] (beautiful but kind of a mouthful, and no easy nickname)
[name]Adele[/name] (my husband thinks it’s a little old-fashioned)
[name]Celeste[/name]? (I’m still on the fence about this one)

HELP! I need girl names that sound good and make sense with the boy list.

I know an [name]Ariana[/name] and she goes only by [name]Ari[/name]. I love [name]Adele[/name]! What about something like [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Paige[/name]. [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Kate[/name] or [name]Tess[/name]. I think they are all classic and strong names for girl.

From your list, I love [name]Adele[/name] and [name]Celeste[/name]-- they’re both gorgeous. [name]Ariana[/name] is a little too popular for me. What about:

[name]Maia[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Althea[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Seraphina[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Nina[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Greta[/name]
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Delia[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Camille[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name]

I think the names you are thinking of for girls arent really classic/preppy. I also love your boys names, they are totally my style but not your girls names. heres my lists for some inspiration:

[name]Rafferty[/name]
[name]Reid[/name]
Stratton
[name]Tennyson[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Warden[/name]
[name]Warren[/name]

I think [name]Adele[/name] would fit in nicely with brothers with names on your boy list, so maybe that means its of a similar style. I can see where DH might say it’s old fashioned, but to me it is recognizable but not popular, easy to pronounce and spell, strong but clearly feminine - plus, has cute nn [name]Addie[/name] or [name]Dell[/name], etc. [name]Celeste[/name] is beautiful too, but doesn’t seem like a particularly strong name, just because of all the soft sounds. [name]How[/name] about:
[name]Tessa[/name] (others have suggested, I like it!)
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Celia[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Hadley[/name]
[name]Julia[/name]
[name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Mallory[/name]

Good luck!

Thanks gwensmom, I really like your suggestions, I have a few personal hangups with some of the names (ie [name]Tessa[/name] was my old hamster’s name).

My favorites are [name]Corinne[/name], [name]Celia[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] (hmm… sensing a new theme!)

A few other names I’m partial too are:
[name]Briar[/name]
[name]Laila[/name]
[name]Aster[/name]

What are you impressions of those? [name]Do[/name] they seem strong to you or no? I’m particularly interested to hear what people think of [name]Briar[/name], as it’s not really common.

Ooh, I love how you’ve taken the girls names in a different direction. Here are my favorites:
[name]Harper[/name]
Landrey ([name]Leni[/name]?)
[name]Paisley[/name] ([name]Penny[/name]/Pais?)
[name]Everly[/name]

I can’t help but add some of your boy names to my favorite list, we definately have similar taste. I love:
[name]Pierce[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Warren[/name]
[name]Tennyson[/name] (my husband loves the poet!)
[name]Beckett[/name]
[name]Cole[/name] (but I could never use it because of my last name)
