I love [name]Marie[/name]. I just find it so sweet and vintage-pretty. It gets a bit lost as a middle name but as a first it’s striking, rather like [name]Rose[/name]. If names like [name]Edith[/name] are getting a chance to come back, why not [name]Marie[/name]?
[name]Maria[/name] doesn’t seem BAD but I prefer either [name]Marie[/name] or [name]Mara[/name].
Is it possible to substitute [name]Petra[/name] for [name]Patricia[/name]? I just find [name]Marie[/name] [name]Petra[/name] so cute to contemplate - I must admit having had terrible experiences with Patricias that have not done the name any favours for me. [name]Patrice[/name]/[name]Patrizia[/name]/[name]Patia[/name] are okay though. Assuming there’s an Italian link, judging from the last name, [name]Patrizia[/name] seems justifiable? I do love a good (correctly spelled) name with a z in it though!
You can use [name]Mimi[/name] but personally I favour [name]Ree[/name]/[name]Ria[/name] or [name]Mae[/name].
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Marie[/name] for a first name. A dear friend of mine’s oldest daughter is a [name]Marie[/name]. It is beautiful and so special as a first name these days, as you barely ever hear it. [name]Marie[/name] is a classic and always will be. In a world of [name]Ava[/name]'s and [name]Olivia[/name]'s, [name]Marie[/name] is a breath of fresh air. I do not consider it dated, but even if you did, it shouldn’t matter as so many old fashioned names are coming back into style. The sound of it is so gorgeous. And the fact that it is your mother’s name is reason enough on top of that! Go for it.

I feel exactly the same way. [name]Marie[/name] as a middle name is a snoozefest, but [name]Marie[/name] as a first, I think, is unexpected and sweet.
[name]Petra[/name] is super cute. Great idea. I’ll have to discuss it with my husband.

Thanks for the great comment! It does seem like a lot of the girls have the same name or same kind of name these days. I’m so glad I’m getting such positive responses over Marie. I’m really surprised!!
I prefer [name]Patrice[/name] over [name]Patricia[/name]. [name]Patrice[/name] sounds more streamlined and less dated. It almost sounds elegant. I prefer [name]Maria[/name] to [name]Marie[/name], but only slightly.
Not a fan of [name]Mimi[/name], sorry.
I notice your surname is Altomari. [name]How[/name] is that pronounced? [name]Marie[/name] [name]Alto[/name][mah-ree] would sound odd. Thus, I would opt for [name]Maria[/name], even though that causes smooshing (Marialtomari) Perhaps [name]Mary[/name]? [name]Marianne[/name]? [name]Maura[/name]? There are plenty of [name]Mary[/name] variations; I suggest you explore!
For [name]Patricia[/name], I don’t mind it, but I prefer Patressa myself. I think it might be made up, but heck, isn’t every name made up at some point?
[name]Maria[/name] [name]Patrice[/name] is beautiful, stunning, and fresh to me – this combo gets my vote. I agree that either of these names would be so refreshing on a little girl, and I prefer [name]Maria[/name] (because I’m a sucker for “a” and “ia” ending names) and also because you have more options – she can be [name]Maria[/name] or [name]Marie[/name] (or [name]Mimi[/name] or [name]Ria[/name], etc., etc.). You wouldn’t think there would be such a plethora of nns for such a short name, but this name is quite a find!
I know [name]Marie[/name] Altomari doesn’t sound the best, but, for today, I kind of don’t care that much. It seems as though nothing sounds great with my last name!! Still unsure which one I like better, [name]Maria[/name] or [name]Marie[/name]. It is kind of cool if I choose [name]Maria[/name] I can still use [name]Marie[/name]!
[name]Marie[/name] is a new name love for me. So elegant and sophisticated. I also think about the character from the [name]Bourne[/name] Identity. Go for it!
I went for [name]Maria[/name] [name]Patrice[/name]- it’s got a lovely flow Good luck!
glamatomic - I agree the flow is much better with [name]Maria[/name] [name]Patrice[/name]. I think I just plain like the name [name]Marie[/name] better, but I can always name her [name]Maria[/name] and call her [name]Marie[/name]. Unsure.
boyandgirl - I’m going to rent [name]Bourne[/name] Identity now so I can hear the name! I’m such a cheeseball like that.
I voted for [name]Maria[/name] [name]Patrice[/name] - two choices that obviously honor both grandmas, without using their exact name. Plus, it sounds so timeless and romantic and lush. [name]Maria[/name] [name]Patrice[/name] is a lovely name! [name]Em[/name]/M, [name]Mia[/name], [name]Mari[/name], [name]Ari[/name], [name]Mimi[/name], [name]Ria[/name]–the nns are lovely, too. I think you could get to [name]Mimi[/name] from [name]Marie[/name], but honestly, if [name]Marie[/name] got used up front, I would probably want to use just [name]Marie[/name]. It’s my MN, I’ve always hated it because it’s so filler (and honestly, it’s always seemed a bit ugly to me). But seeing it here, as a FN, I can appreciate [name]Marie[/name]. It’s lovely, it’s French, it’s very lilting.
[name]Marie[/name] [name]Patricia[/name]. [name]Both[/name] pretty and not currently used.
[name]Marie[/name] is fantastic. I added it to the [name]Little[/name] [name]Black[/name] Dress name list. It’s sweet, elegant, timeless, and chic. It has an old French [name]Antoinette[/name]-esque vibe while still seeming sophisticated. As a middle, it’s filler and seems uninspired. As a first, I love it.
I’m not crazy about [name]Patricia[/name] or [name]Patrice[/name], but I understand why you want to use it. I say [name]Patricia[/name] is better. [name]Patrice[/name] sounds a bit 80s to me. [name]Patricia[/name] is more classic.
I think [name]Marie[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] is a nice combo, [name]Marie[/name] is beautiful, and [name]Mimi[/name] is a perfect nickname. Well done! Now let’s just see if it’s a girl or not!
