I can't belive I'm posting here

We are having a third in [name_u]January[/name_u] and were told at the 12 week scan it was most likely a girl. However, I went to an elective ultrasound yesterday and it was most definitely a boy!!! This will be our first (and only) boy after two girls and we were not prepared to come up with a boy name. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband likes traditional “manly” names, like [name_m]Jim[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m], and [name_m]Rob[/name_m] (which aren’t getting anywhere with me). This is ironic since our girls are [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_u]Holland[/name_u] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] (much more “modern”). Anyway, we’ve thrown back and forth a lot of names ([name_u]Rex[/name_u], [name_m]Graham[/name_m], and a few others) and I think maybe we are settled on [name_m]MacGregor[/name_m] with “[name_m]Mac[/name_m]” for short, which gives my husband his manly name thing. However, we need a middle name and I’m stumped. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s name is [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] and our last name ends in -ley. I thought about using his first name as the middle, but I don’t love it. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband also likes [name_m]John[/name_m] since that’s a family name on his side, but I REALLY don’t love that one. I’m actually liking [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], which was one of my grandfather’s names. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother’s first name is [name_m]Preston[/name_m] and I really like it as a name, though I am not sure it flows well. So, thoughts on a middle name to go with [name_m]MacGregor[/name_m]?

I like [name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] although it does sound a bit off. Names like [name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] are hard to pair a middle with since it sounds like surname, first name if you use too traditional of a middle.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about

[name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]
[name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] [name_m]Drake[/name_m]
[name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]
[name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]

[name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] reminds me of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] Rabbit, which is an adorable association. I like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] from what you’re considering. Some others that are somewhat manly, somewhat rare:

[name_m]Ian[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_m]Walt[/name_m]
[name_u]Roy[/name_u]
[name_m]Gage[/name_m]
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]
[name_m]Buddy[/name_m]
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
[name_u]Elm[/name_u]
[name_u]Berry[/name_u]

Since [name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] has lots of letters, I think something short for a middle name would be strong.

I really like
[name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]
[name_m]Macgregor[/name_m] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]

Let’s see you have…
Logan Sophia -ley
Holland Georgiana -ley
MacGregor ‘Mac’ (Edison ? )-ley
Congrats on having a son !
Lovely names let’s see, you’ve managed not to repeat initials so that’s kind of nice maybe you can continue that,
Stephen would flow well but if you don’t love it and it does repeat the s maybe don’t worry about it…
Ellis I like I think sounds great, but they you do have to very surnamey names ( Ellis is a surname in my family) this would be my fav of your suggestions but for that, not that that really matters just something to be aware of.
Preston the rs in macgregor seem to make this one less usable, they catch on it and it flows poorly :-/
John I honestly really like this but if you don’t that what matters…

Adam
Amos
Benjamin
Caleb
Cassius
David

I like [name_m]MacGregor[/name_m]… interesting, unusual, choice. I think you need something equally interesting to go with it.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps… Congratulations!

I like [name_m]MacGregor[/name_m] [name_m]Preston[/name_m] -ley. That’s my vote. Honouring your brother, sounds great with the fn.

Thanks, ladies. Some great suggestions here. I need to discuss now with my husband. He’s a hard one to please. He is warming up to [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], but I still don’t know if that one is “it” for the middle. I also like the suggestions of a shorter middle name since the first name is so long, even though he will likely go by [name_m]Mac[/name_m].
