I’m due with my second child (and second son) in [name]November[/name] and I never would have guessed that I would be having such a hard time! The only name I’ve truly liked is [name]Giles[/name]. Needless to say everyone is a little confused by this, myself included. My sister and brother in law have suggested [name]Henry[/name] because they want to call him [name]Hank[/name]! I like it but I worry about it being too popular. I would say it fits my style but I really need some more suggestions that don’t just make me roll my eyes! I feel like I have a reason to be against every name thrown at me! My first son’s name is [name]Simon[/name] [name]Nathanael[/name] if that helps at all with what kind of names I might like. Please help!
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name]
[name]Orrin[/name]
[name]Julian[/name]
[name]Matthias[/name]
[name]Gerard[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name]
[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Ephraim[/name]
[name]Rupert[/name]
I looove [name]Milo[/name]! But my life has been threatened by a friend if I take it! I’ve kept [name]Matthias[/name] in mind for a middle name (I want the middle name to be a bible name, 3 syllable if the first name is one or two syllables.) I have a cousin named [name]Matthew[/name] whose ego is outrageous and I’d never hear the end of how great it is of me to name my child after him if I used [name]Matthias[/name] as a first name! I love the look of [name]Hugh[/name] but it just doesn’t work well with my last name! Thank you so much for the ideas!
i dont like [name]Giles[/name] at all…I like [name]Henry[/name] but [name]Hank[/name] awful…how about :
[name]Simon[/name] and [name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] and [name]Owen[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] and [name]Miles[/name]
I definitely would not be calling my child [name]Hank[/name]! Haha! I wouldn’t really care if they called him that because I don’t foresee it sticking! He certainly wouldn’t be taking that name to school with him! I like [name]Henry[/name] and think it goes really well with [name]Simon[/name] and I’ve never actually met a [name]Henry[/name] under 70 and was kind of surprised it ranked so high. I like both [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Miles[/name] but already have both in the family. [name]Caleb[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name] are both too popular in my area and I don’t love them enough to overlook that.
Some suggestions:
[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Myles[/name]
[name]Nile[/name]/[name]Niles[/name]
[name]Neil[/name]
[name]Lyle[/name]
[name]Francis[/name] ([name]Frank[/name])
[name]Franklin[/name] ([name]Frank[/name])
[name]Giles[/name] is cool. ^^
If you like both [name]Miles[/name] and [name]Giles[/name], maybe you like [name]Eames[/name]? [name]Hayes[/name]? [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Hugh[/name] come together perfectly in [name]Hugo[/name].
[name]Wyatt[/name]?
[name]How[/name] about [name]Theodore[/name]?
Ohmagoodness! I Looooooove [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Theo[/name]! It’s the only name I like with a nickname I like too! Two problems…Dad is not a fan…at all…AND that would give me a [name]Simon[/name] and a [name]Theodore[/name]…I’d feel too pressured to have an [name]Alvin[/name] as well. I’m thinking very heavily on just [name]Theo[/name] but I’m just not sure I can convince his dear dad.
Yes, I can definitely see your dilemma with [name]Simon[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name]! I love both names so much though. If it is any consolation, I can see our generation making that connection but probably less so for your sons’ generation, even with the movies, I just don’t think it is as popular as when we were kids.
I love [name]Teddy[/name] as well. Not sure if that helps or hurts!
Any of these work?
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name]
[name]How[/name] 'bout…
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Albert[/name]
[name]Reginald[/name]
[name]George[/name]
[name]Curtis[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name]
Congrats and good luck!
[name]Arthur[/name] has really started growing on me since I’ve started the search for a boys name! Some mentioned [name]Francis[/name] and [name]Franklin[/name] earlier nn [name]Frank[/name] which I love because I’m a huge [name]Frank[/name] Sinatra fan! I also love [name]Harry[/name] or [name]Harry[/name] as a nickname but anything with [name]Harry[/name] is out because my last name is [name]Perry[/name]…No [name]Harry[/name] [name]Perry[/name]'s for me! I clearly love “old man” names and his dad obviously does not have the same taste. He keeps bringing up “fad” names and it takes everything I have to keep from asking him how those are even a vaild suggestion to follow a name like [name]Giles[/name] or [name]Henry[/name]?! He does say that he doesn’t hate [name]Giles[/name] or [name]Henry[/name] just that he’s not sold on them yet.
Ultimately, I’m hoping to compile as list of names that I like so I can give them to him and he cross of the absolute no’s and maybe see one he actually likes or at least leave me with ones that he doesn’t hate. I hate bringing just one name up and having to see each individual reaction, especially if it’s a name I love! You guys have been helping tremendously with me even compiling the beginning of a list. I had only a couple before this!
If I am ever blessed with a son it will be
[name]Ephraim[/name] [name]Harrison[/name] (last name to be decided at later date)
There is a reason why… [name]Ephraim[/name] is my favorite name from the bible (being the [name]Christian[/name] and aspiring missionary I am, I feel it important to have a biblical first name for my first son) [name]Harrison[/name] is the last name of my “family”. They are the people that have taken me in and loved me when I was unlovable.
Maybe there is someone you want to name your son after, or a favorite book or passion that really makes you think, my son should represent that.
I thought on [name]Tobias[/name] for a while and I still have it in mind for possible middle name. I know that I want the middle name to be a biblical name (probably 3 syllables) with a meaning that is fitting for this pregnancy. I chose [name]Nathanael[/name] after lots of studying bible names. He is mentioned once in [name]John[/name] where [name]Jesus[/name] comments on him being a man “in whom there is no guile” which is something my first son’s father is FULL of! I love the name [name]Gabe[/name] as a nn for [name]Gabriel[/name] but [name]Gabriel[/name] seems so feminine to me for some reason and I can’t shake it. I like [name]Eli[/name] as well and I’m also keeping [name]Elijah[/name] in mind for a middle name. I love your name choice taytay13! And all the meaning it has behind it! I can’t even begin to tell you how much I wish I had a man in my life worth honoring! Last names are out because they are either not feesible or because they have already been used in my family. I’ve tried to come up with a way to honor the two amazing women I was blessed with as a mother and grandmother but I’ve come up with nothing that moves me! Such a bummer for me.
Kikndehead, keep trying to come up with something that honors them. It won’t just be rewarding to you, but that little guy will have such a special bond with the people he is named after.
I [name]LOVE[/name] the idea of [name]Tobias[/name]. When I was looking at biblical names I wanted it to be something original but not something that would get him beat up. I think all your choices are right on point.
[name]Thaddeus[/name] has the same feel as [name]Theodore[/name] - maybe a little more formal. NN [name]Thad[/name] or [name]Tad[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] and [name]Samson[/name]?
What about
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Leo[/name]
[name]Levi[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
