I just wanted to share something my dad sent me earlier today, on the 75th anniversary of the D-[name_u]Day[/name_u] landings.
His father, my grandfather, served on the HMS Belfast during World War II. On 6th [name_u]June[/name_u] 1944, Belfast played a major role in facilitating the landings at one of the five D-[name_u]Day[/name_u] beaches… [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_m]Beach[/name_m].
Our eldest daughter is [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. Named for other reasons, but it always just felt “right” and this just makes me even more certain that it was meant to be.
My grandfather survived the war but passed away several years before our children were born, which makes this connection all the more poignant. I wish he could have met her, and had the chance to tell me about this crazy coincidence himself. Thinking of him today, as well as all those who lost their lives on those beaches 75 years ago. [name_m]RIP[/name_m].
