I don't even know where to begin. Help!

First of all, like every 3rd girl born in 1978, I’m [name]Amanda[/name]. Most often known as [name]Amanda[/name] S… Or even [name]Amanda[/name] full last name because there was another [name]Amanda[/name] S in my class. Yeah. I have issues.

With my first pregnancy I drempt of a little toddler who informed me her name was Reya [name]Kathleen[/name] (ray-uh like a ray of sunshine… yep, she’s heard that about 89million times) [name]Man[/name], that worked out well for me! Extra yay was the fact that I was a single mother and didn’t have to consult or please anyone else with her name! I love her name, it’s HERS and I’ve never personally met someone with it, even though I’ve heard there are others out there ;-). She likes her name. It’s perfect!

So here I am 11 years later and it’s ugly lol…

First of all Dh’s last name is P*lace (take out the *) A friend suggested [name]Otto[/name] for a boy, and it’s cute, but then I’ve just named my kid Auto Place… That’s less cute. [name]Way[/name] less cute.

Second DH has 2 middle names so baby must have 2 middle names… Crap… He just made this 50% harder!

Third One of those middle names he’d like to be biblical. I’m not sure that this is a deal breaker, but who knows at this point.

I have an insanely short list

[name]Lavenia[/name] <—Grandmother’s name… My mother would not love this lol.
[name]Magnolia[/name] nn [name]Maggie[/name] Aww that’s just sweet… and I saw a BEAUTIFUL magnolia tree on the way home from the ultrasound
[name]Sela[/name] stumbled across it on some list somewhere. It’s alright I guess… I liked it enough to write it down.

Yeah… that’s it. I’m more than 1/2 way through this pregnancy and have nothing to show for it.

It took us 3 days of living with the dog before we managed to name her! ([name]Stella[/name]) I can’t imagine actually naming this baby.

i’m really tired right now, but i’ll be back tomorrow to help you out!!! And i’m sure some of the other berries in the meantime will be very helpful to you!!

I’ll list some names that seem like they could be your style… after you have a longer short list, you can start making combos.

Also, I think [name]Lavinia[/name] (spelled that way) is gorgeous; [name]Magnolia[/name] P*lace sounds like a street, and [name]Sela[/name] sounds very close to [name]Stella[/name]…

Hmm, where to begin… Well, first off I love Reya [name]Kathleen[/name]! Very sweet and such a cool story! As for your short list, nothing’s really jumping out at me, and I’m assuming the same is true for you since you’re here. [name]Lavenia[/name] seems too musty, [name]Sela[/name] seems kind of bland and I actually like [name]Magnolia[/name] a lot. [name]Maggie[/name] and Reya are very cute together. And it’s cool you passed a magnolia tree! Maybe it’s a sign? Here are some names that, in my opinion, would be good for Reya’s sister:

[name]Keira[/name]/[name]Kira[/name] ([name]KEER[/name]-ah) - pretty and vowel heavy like Reya, similar to [name]Sela[/name] but a bit stronger and spunkier. Not too popular.

[name]Esme[/name] - Another vowel-y, soft, kind of mystical sounding name. I really like this one with Reya. Reya and [name]Esme[/name] sound great together.

[name]Adele[/name] - has very different sounds from Reya, which makes the names a great fit but not too matchy.

[name]Leta[/name] ([name]LEE[/name]-ta) - simple and sweet, means “joyful”.

[name]Leora[/name] / [name]Leona[/name] - I like that both this names are soft and vowely but still strong sounding.

[name]Cleo[/name] - very spunky and cool with Reya and distinct in sound.

[name]Ruby[/name] - if you don’t mind the repeating "R"s then I think Reya and [name]Ruby[/name] are super cute together. I just love this name.

[name]Mila[/name] (MEE-la) - another simple name that balances Reya really nicely.

As for middle names, if you’re husband is set on a biblical one, there are tons of wonderful options available. Here are a few:

[name]Abilene[/name]

[name]Bethany[/name]

[name]Dinah[/name]
[name]Eden[/name]
[name]Esther[/name]
[name]Eve[/name]
[name]Hannah[/name]
[name]Jemima[/name]
[name]Judith[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]
[name]Magdalene[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Michal[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Noa[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Salome[/name]
[name]Sara/name/[name]Sarai[/name]/[name]Suri[/name]
[name]Shiloh[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Tamar[/name]
[name]Zipporah[/name]

hope that helps! let us know if anything is leaning in the right direction.

Okay! Let’s see what might work with Reya [name]Kathleen[/name] and with the surname Place, shall we?

FIRST NAMES
[name]Anya[/name]
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Cassia[/name] ([name]CASS[/name]-ee-ah* or [name]CASH[/name]-ah)
[name]Chiara[/name] (key-ARE-ah)
[name]Clarissa[/name]
[name]Esme[/name] (ez-may)
[name]Idina[/name] (ih-[name]DEE[/name]-nuh or uh-[name]DEE[/name]-nuh)
[name]Isla[/name] (EYE-la)
[name]Naya[/name] (NIGH-uh [rhymes with “sigh”])
[name]Zara[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name]

HEBREW (BIBLICAL) NAMES
[name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Deborah[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Eden[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Eve[/name]
[name]Hannah[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]
[name]Mariam[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]

And, finally, when is the baby due? You could use her birth month to complete her name. For instance, if she were due in [name]June[/name] - I know she isn’t - her second middle name could be [name]Rose[/name] (or [name]Rosaleen[/name], Irish like [name]Kathleen[/name]), after the birth flower, or [name]Pearl[/name], after the birth stone. I’m sure there is something we could come up with!

[name]Lemon[/name]

Ohh thank you for starting me off… I did come up with a list of biblical girl names I don’t hate for middle names

[name]Sarah[/name] - DH vetoed it… I suspect there was one in his past lol
[name]Cornelia[/name]
[name]Magdalene[/name]- He seemed to like this but was quick to specify "for a middle name
Mesha
[name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name] - becoming trendier (I think, but as a middle it could work)
[name]Pheobe[/name]— I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Pheobe[/name], It falls in line with Reya ([name]Rhea[/name]) as a goddess and that could be a trend I’m ok with.

I just thought of something else… While I love the name [name]Liam[/name] for a boy, it would look weird on my boy… I’m 1/2 hispanic and DH is Native American… This baby will be dark complected and I want to make sure the names will match that.

Ohh [name]Lilac[/name] just made my list! I always thought I’d have a [name]Lillian[/name], but my sister got to it before I could!

You’re soooo in the right direction! Thank you!

[name]Baby[/name] is due at the end of [name]September[/name], but close enough that it could be [name]October[/name](Ohh I hope not!)

You guys are the best, I’ve been lurking for 5 months I can’t believe it took so long for me to post!

For Biblically-based names I’m liking these right now:

[name]Havilah[/name] (yes, this is techinically a boys name in the Bible, but it just sounds so pretty! It is also an area of land in the bible).

[name]Chloe[/name] (which means “Blooming” from a ray of sunshine:)

[name]Naamah[/name] ([name]Way[/name] cooler than [name]Naomi[/name], pronounced Na-a-mah)

[name]Persis[/name] (just sounds like a cool person!)

As far as first names, I [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Lilac[/name] (although my hubby wants it as a “double name” [name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Lilac[/name]).

You seem to like some of the suggestions, so how about you give us a list of some of your likes and loves, and we can make some combinations for you, or suggest others along the same lines?

Good luck! [name]Auburn[/name]

Let us know what you like and don’t like, and hopefully some you love! Oh, and here is some information for [name]September[/name] and [name]October[/name]:

[name]SEPTEMBER[/name]
Birth [name]Stone[/name] - [name]Sapphire[/name]
Birth [name]Flower[/name] - Forget-me-not, [name]Morning[/name] glory, [name]Aster[/name]

(I’d use [name]Aster[/name] from this collection! [name]Sapphire[/name] feels a bit cheap to me as a name, to be honest.)

[name]OCTOBER[/name]
Birth [name]Stone[/name] - [name]Opal[/name]
Birth [name]Flower[/name] - Calendula

(I’d pick [name]Opal[/name]! Such a cool vintage name that doesn’t get enough wear in my opinion…)

[name]Lemon[/name]

I’d just like to point out that [name]Selah[/name] is a Biblical name. It’s from a Hebrew musical term which occurs many times in the Old Testament Psalms.

[name]Sela[/name] is also a place name in the Bible.

Have you thought about [name]Lucia[/name]? Loo-see-ah is the Spanish pronunciation. It means light. It would match your little Reya

Lesser known Biblical names

[name]Adah[/name]
[name]Bethany[/name] - place name
[name]Claudia[/name] - briefly mentioned
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name] - means “bright, pure”
