I don’t know if this is normal for you other berries, but this has never happened to me! In fact the people in my dreams don’t even have names because I feel like I know them already. And as far as I remember I’ve never dreamed of any written words. But last night I dreamed that I was on a game-show type thing on a timer and whoever controlled it knew my answers. The announcer person asked something along the lines of “What is your favorite name, always at the back of your mind?” The time was so close to ending and I felt very urgent. I’ve never had a ‘favorite’ name but I said “I don’t know, [name_m]Prescott[/name_m], [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m]?” While I love these names, I know they aren’t my favorites. The announcer shook his head and pointed to this giant board. And right as the timer buzzed, a name lit up- neon green and in all caps: [name_m]THOMAS[/name_m].
I’ve always liked [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and have used it in a book but have never actually considered it as a name for one of my children, mainly because I don’t really like [name_m]Tom[/name_m] or [name_m]Tommy[/name_m] and don’t think anyone would use [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] all the time. But in the dream, when I saw [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], I felt so relieved I nearly cried, like I finally had my answer.
(I’m not pregnant or trying.) [name_f]Do[/name_f] think this is my subconscious telling me what I really think is The Name? Or was it just a crazy dream?

This did just happen to me earlier in the week as well. I don’t remember what happened in my dream very much except that my unborn son was in it and I was calling him [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. My husband and I have been trying to pin down a name for our son due in feb and were deciding between [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] but neither one felt right. When I woke up in a still half asleep state I just remember feeling like his name was supposed to be [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. I had never given the name much thought at all and thought my husband wouldn’t like it. As the day progressed, it grew on me and when I told my husband, he actually really liked it. Now we are feeling like it is perfect and solved the problems we are having with the other two names ([name_m]Archer[/name_m] being pretty trendy but lacking substance and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] possibly becoming super popular in the US but having history).
I have had dreams about telling people names I like and they laugh and say they hate them! But unfortunately I have never dreamed of “the perfect name”. However, I did have a dream last week about what my friend should name her baby boy… they are not telling anyone the name until he is born, so I won’t know if they use my dream suggestion until late [name_u]November[/name_u]!
I had a dream about a boy named [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] once. And I do really like that name. Our subconscious is strange, I don’t try to understand it.
haha, that’s a pretty awesome dream! I’ve never dreamed that sort of dream, but I dream about names all the time! I remember pretty consistently that even if nobody calls me by my name, I know if I’m [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] in the dream, or if I’m someone else (it’s very odd, I dream of being myself, but being someone else at the same time? Like my sister of brother or some random girl named [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], etc.!), and intuitively, even if I never heard someone’s name, I still have a general idea of what the person’s name is–I remember having this one dream once that I fell in love with this guy who had had a thing for me for a really long time, but he felt subconscious since he was older than me (I don’t remember how many years, haha–maybe close to 10). I never learned his name, no one ever said it, but I felt like he was a [name_m]Jason[/name_m]. I don’t know why. I play name games all the time, though–when I go shopping or as I pass other cars on the highway I’ll just watch people and guess what sort of name they “look” like.
I have had a couple dreams about having babies/adopting, too… The dreams were super weird, so I won’t really elaborate, but I remember dreaming that I had a [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] (whose name I had planned to change to [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]), an [name_f]Olive[/name_f], and adopted two girls and changed their names from [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] and [name_f]Kylee[/name_f] to [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]. Ironically, most of those aren’t even favorites, and while I still [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] (and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], nn [name_f]Olive[/name_f]/[name_f]Liv/name_f), they wouldn’t make me lean toward using them over my true favorites (which I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Arianne[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]). Strangely enough, I always dream about having girls, never boys. I’ve always thought it was because I always really, really wanted little girls (and not boys!), but now I desperately want both (although I still want more girls!), so I don’t know. I’d be happy to dream about having a little boy.
Ok this is bizarre because i had my first name-related dream last night too! I almost started a thread for it as soon as i woke up, but i got distracted!
I adore the name [name_m]Philo[/name_m], and it has not gotten positive feedback at all…so keep that in mind when i explain my dream.
So in my dream, it was like i was 10-15 years in my own future, and i was working at the career I’m going to grad school for, and was married, had kids, etc. and basically the “plot” of my dream was that my sister and i were trying to recreate a recipe of something her husband had eaten (i wish i could remember what it was, because it sounded pretty awesome), and we finally found a recipe for it and as i was reading the ingredients off, i said “Phyllo pastry dough” and accidentally pronounced it the same way as [name_m]Philo[/name_m]. And in my dream i panicked for a moment and was like “omg the other 'berries were right, people will pronounce the dough like his name”
And then i kind of just looked over at my kid, who was named [name_m]Philo[/name_m] (and he totally had red hair and I’ve never pictured myself with redheaded kids, but my mom is a redhead so it’s possible) and i realized he hadn’t batted an eye, and dream-me was just like “oh. This isn’t a big deal at all” and just went about the rest of the recipe.
It was totally relieving, like i can absolutely picture it on a kid and i totally don’t even care about the pastry thing. And now i just picture myself having a little redheaded [name_m]Philo[/name_m].
I dreamed of a name once! In it my boyfriend and I had a baby girl named [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] turned out to be a family name for him and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] has been my favorite for years! I like the combination of the two so I’d consider using it one day!! I had another dream where we had a baby, but in that one the baby was nameless.
Wow, I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who’s had weird dreams like this! I once had a dream I was searching for my daughter [name_f]Annika[/name_f], when I woke up I thought how much that name wasn’t remotely close to anything I like, nor have I ever heard it. I had another dream where I was talking to my son and he told me his name was [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]. (I know too many [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]'s to name my child that!)
I know what some of you mean about just knowing what someone’s name (in a dream) is. My dreams never have any talking or anything. Mostly just thoughts in people’s heads, and somehow everyone knows what one another is thinking lol. Anyway, I always dream of having daughters, even though I would prefer to have sons haha, and one is named [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], the other doesn’t seem to have a name. I liked the name [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] when I was younger, and it is still nice, but I definitely don’t plan on using it!
I once dreamt that my best friend had a little sister who looked exactly like her and was supposed to be a secret, and in my dream, her secret little sister was named [name_f]Africa[/name_f]. Yeah, I don’t even know.
I had a dream while pregnant that we had a girl and my husband told everyone her name was Tomorrow Genica. [name_m]Both[/name_m] words we never would consider for a name…I actually woke up angry. Lol
