hello everyone!! I finally came up with 20 beautiful combos that I truly love, so I thought I’d share them and get feedback!! You can rate them, offer name suggestions, let me know what imagery these give off, vote on the polls, or whatever you like!! I know some of the pronounciations can be hard, so please don’t hesitate to ask. Also, please note that the “ch” sound in many of these names is a rolled “ch” sound, not like the sound in “chair” (it doesn’t have a letter in the [name_f]English[/name_f] alphabet.) The “tz” sound that pops up once or twice also doesn’t have an [name_f]English[/name_f] letter, but it’s similar to the “zz” sound in the word “pizza.” Stay safe
You have a lovely list! [name_u]Aviv[/name_u] [name_f]Liorit[/name_f] is my very-favorite but I also really like [name_f]Chava[/name_f] [name_u]Maayan[/name_u], [name_f]Galit[/name_f] [name_f]Haviva[/name_f], [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_f]Liat[/name_f], and Yishaiyit [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]!
Okay, so I just have a question that I’ve been wondering about for a long time. It’s not really feedback, but I can never recall who all of the Jewish Berries are, so I am taking this opportunity!
Could you explain to me [name_f]Chava[/name_f] vs Havah? Are they the same? Different? Is one the Hebrew version of [name_f]Eve[/name_f]? What do they mean? Please and thank you. Sorry if this seems like a strange question!
ooh amazing question!! [name_f]Chava[/name_f] and [name_f]Hava[/name_f] are different transcriptions of the Hebrew חַיָה. [name_f]Chava[/name_f] can be taken two ways: The Hebrew version of [name_f]Eve[/name_f], or a derivative of [name_f]Chaya[/name_f] which is the feminization of Chayyim, meaning life (so [name_f]Chava[/name_f] = life.) I choose to go with the second meaning. [name_f]Chava[/name_f] and [name_f]Hava[/name_f] are basically the same name, but pronounced a bit differenty. I just noticed that you typed Havah, which is a different transcription. This happens very often with Hebrew and Yiddish names
Thank you so much! That is very helpful. [name_f]Chava[/name_f] is lovely, by the way. These were such tough polls because I wanted to vote for more than just one. I love your style.
This is a gorgeous list! I voted for [name_f]Mayim[/name_f] [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f], but it was a very close call with [name_f]Sura[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] I also love [name_u]Aviv[/name_u] [name_f]Liorit[/name_f], [name_f]Ayelet[/name_f] Chasye, [name_f]Katya[/name_f] [name_f]Tova[/name_f] [name_u]Shir[/name_u], [name_f]Neta[/name_f] Yaelit, [name_u]Tal[/name_u] Meirav…okay basically all of them. These are wonderful!
Great pairings which for the most part are cohesive.
I like the combo of [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_f]Liat[/name_f] but it does stand out significantly to me as the Irish name seems to come out of left field.
Some of the names seem a bit heavy/difficult to picture on a person (Eyerusalem + Eucalypta in particular, and the Y first names to a lesser extent).
How I love looking at your lists. I especially love [name_u]Tal[/name_u] Meirav (how do you say Meirav, and can you tell me more about it?), but this does not surprise me because I am over-the-moon in love with [name_u]Tali[/name_u]. And I see you fit [name_u]Shir[/name_u] in!
I also really like [name_f]Tzeitel[/name_f] [name_f]Avia[/name_f], [name_u]Aviv[/name_u] [name_f]Liorit[/name_f], Tovye Lital, [name_f]Neta[/name_f], Neshama (), and [name_u]Yuval[/name_u]. [name_m]Can[/name_m] you tell me more about Yishaiyit? Does it have an [name_f]English[/name_f] alternative, or a variant I’d be more familiar with than Yishaiyit?
It’s a bit hard for me to describe the pronounciation of Meirav, so here’s a recording!
I actually don’t know much about the name- I know about it because it’s the name of one of my childhood best friends!! What I do know is it’s an alternate spelling/transliteration of the name Merab, [name_m]Saul[/name_m]'s oldest daughter, and it can also be interpreted as meaning “the most of” or “a lot of water.” It’s as confusing as most of the names on my list
As for Yishaiyit, it’s actually a name that @MagnoliaE came up with for me!! The name you would recognize is [name_m]Yishai[/name_m], a popular boys’ name in [name_u]Israel[/name_u] (the Hebrew form of [name_u]Jesse[/name_u].) I was looking for feminizations and came up with Yishaia, but [name_u]James[/name_u] reccomended Yishaiyit and I knew it was perfect!! The -it ending is typically an ending used to make unisex names feminine (example: [name_f]Galit[/name_f].)
Interesting! I got everything but the “ei” bit correct lol. I had been thinking it might be “ay” or “eye” but not “ee”–and very interesting! I’m not too familiar with [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Saul[/name_m]’s children with the exception of [name_u]Michal[/name_u].
And ohh, fascinating! Yishaia is cool, too, but the I love the -it endings… [name_f]Ilanit[/name_f] and Tzufit are my favorites–I don’t like that it reminds me so much of “two feet”, lol, but the meaning is lovely and it’s so much fun to say!
Oh, I had such a hard time choosing. Ultimately I chose [name_u]Aviv[/name_u] [name_f]Liorit[/name_f], as a combo and individually. I just love the sounds and flow of both names. I find it to be delightfully energetic yet grounded. I do also love [name_f]Mayim[/name_f] [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f], [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_f]Liat[/name_f] and [name_f]Galit[/name_f] [name_f]Haviva[/name_f] as combos especially. Individually, I love [name_f]Mayim[/name_f], [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f], [name_f]Galit[/name_f], [name_f]Iona[/name_f], Tovye, [name_f]Katya[/name_f], [name_f]Orly[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Haviva[/name_f] and [name_f]Liat[/name_f].
