I had an idea...a bit long

I really want to have another baby (and am REALLY hoping to join team blue). My SO and I never agreed on boy names (it’s a good thing the first two were girls because otherwise they would have been named [name]Baby[/name] Boy…lol). But anyway, I am trying to make a new boy list.

My grandpa (I call him [name]Poppy[/name]) has always been very important to me, he and I have always been two peas in a pod. I’d love to name a son after him but I don’t like his name. He doesn’t like it either (my [name]Gram[/name] wanted to name their son a junior and he was NOT having it…lol). His name is [name]Melvin[/name] but he mostly goes by [name]Mel[/name]. My children have a surname that starts with L…so I thought I could name a boy something with the initials M____ E___ L___ to honor him without having to use his name (clearly this won’t work for another daughter as she will probably get marrried and change her surname some day).

Here is my problem with this…I have no M names that strike my fancy.

OUT because of use:
[name]Michael[/name]
[name]Matt[/name]-names
[name]Mitchell[/name]

Out because I don’t like:
[name]Mordecai[/name]
[name]Max[/name]-names (I don’t DISLIKE [name]Max[/name]…it’s just not for me)

Probaby can’t get SO on board with:
[name]Malcom[/name]
Malachai
[name]Macauley[/name] (which makes me sad because I really like this one. [name]LOVE[/name] nn [name]Mac[/name])
[name]Micah[/name]

Basically what I need is for you Berries to dig into your name depths to give me a list of your best boy M names.

**I’m not looking at the E names yet because if I can’t settle on an M name, then I won’t need an E name.

Would [name]Mack[/name] on its own not work for you? The first “M” name that came to mind was [name]Murphy[/name]. I think [name]Murphy[/name] would be great with sisters [name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Ryley[/name].

[name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Monroe[/name]
[name]Maddox[/name]
[name]Merritt[/name]
[name]Merrick[/name]
[name]Murray[/name]
[name]Magnus[/name]
[name]Mercer[/name]
Macsen
[name]Marshall[/name]

Maybe one of these will do the trick.

[name]Marc[/name] / [name]Mark[/name]
[name]Marcus[/name]
[name]Marco[/name]
[name]Marshall[/name]
[name]Martin[/name]
[name]Mason[/name]
[name]Micah[/name]
[name]Miles[/name] / [name]Milo[/name]
[name]Montague[/name]
[name]Moss[/name]

(I like [name]Marcus[/name] [name]Evan[/name] L_____ the best)

Aww, that’s cute. My first idea was [name]Micah[/name], it would be lovely if he would agree to it, and I think [name]Delaney[/name], [name]Ryley[/name], and [name]Micah[/name] would be great together.

If not, what about:

[name]Milo[/name]/[name]Miles[/name]
[name]Moses[/name]
[name]McKinley[/name] (I think a [name]Mac[/name] name would be adorable! I love [name]Mackenzie[/name], but I think that’d just be confusing, since [name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Ryley[/name] are unisex)
[name]Maddox[/name]
[name]Magnus[/name] (although I think this is a bit out of style with your girls, I think you could use [name]Mac[/name] as a nn as a stretch…)
[name]Maguire[/name] (nn [name]Mac[/name]?)
[name]Marcus[/name]
[name]Marius[/name]
[name]Meyer[/name]
[name]Merritt[/name]
[name]Merrick[/name]/[name]Marek[/name]
[name]Mercer[/name] (sort of has the same feel of [name]Spencer[/name] to me, which I know you love)
[name]Miller[/name]
[name]Monroe[/name]/[name]Munro[/name]
[name]Murphy[/name]
[name]Murray[/name]
[name]Malik[/name] (although this might be a bit ethnic next to [name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Ryley[/name]?)

Good luck! Hopefully something will strike your fancy.

[name]Love[/name] the suggestion of [name]Murphy[/name], I also love [name]Maury[/name]
[name]Miller[/name], [name]Myron[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name], [name]Marcel[/name], [name]Marland[/name], [name]Mason[/name], [name]Morley[/name], [name]Morrisey[/name].

Also second the suggestions [name]Merrick[/name], [name]Merritt[/name], [name]Magnus[/name], [name]Mercer[/name] and [name]Monroe[/name] which I like better a [name]Munro[/name]. [name]Monty[/name] can also be pretty cool, maybe as [name]Montgomery[/name]?

I’m not crazy about [name]Mack[/name] on it’s own with the surname (it has a very similar short a sound on the first syllable)…but I figure as a nn it doesn’t matter. I actually think [name]Murphy[/name] is pretty cool but there was a guy we went to school with that had this for a surname (he went by Murph more often than his actual name)…and NOT a good association.

I like [name]Merrick[/name], [name]Monroe[/name] and [name]Mercer[/name] from your lists also. I’m not sure if he’ll be open to them though.

If it helps…the only names he ever really suggested were [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Noah[/name]…I’m not a fan of either (it’s not that I dislike them because there isn’t anything wrong with them…they just aren’t my style).

That would definitely be a sweet way to honour your grandfather! I really like the suggestions of [name]Marshall[/name] and [name]Marcus[/name]. What about [name]Morris[/name]? Or [name]Morgan[/name]?

Other ideas:

McAllister / [name]MacAllister[/name]
McCarter / [name]MacCarter[/name]
McClain
[name]Macer[/name]
[name]McEwan[/name] / MacEwan
[name]McGregor[/name] / [name]MacGregor[/name]
[name]Maclain[/name] / [name]McLain[/name]
McLaren / [name]Maclaren[/name]
[name]Maclean[/name]
McKay
[name]Morris[/name] / [name]Morrison[/name]

I was going to suggest [name]Cormac[/name], nn [name]Mac[/name], though it doesn’t start with M. Maybe [name]McCormac[/name] / [name]McCormack[/name] would work.

Wow, the rest of you ladies responded in the time it took me to respond to Southern [name]Maple[/name]. lol.

[name]Marc[/name] / [name]Mark[/name]–Some days I really like [name]Mark[/name]…other days I feel like it is a noun and not a name (like question mark)…today…I like [name]Mark[/name].
[name]Marcus[/name]–I much prefer just [name]Mark[/name] to [name]Marcus[/name]
[name]Marco[/name]–eh. again…I prefer just [name]Mark[/name].
[name]Marshall[/name]–This grew on me because of the show In Plain Sight…but is it too Eminem?
[name]Martin[/name]–I do have a cousin named this…I really don’t like to reuse a name unless it is on purpose.
[name]Mason[/name]–the name of a former step-brother…Would that be weird?
[name]Micah[/name]–I really love [name]Micah[/name]. He gave me that “Are you serious?” look when I mentioned it. I’m also not sure how I feel about it with my daughters.
[name]Miles[/name] / [name]Milo[/name]–I like [name]Milo[/name] but the [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Otis[/name] connection is too strong for me. I prefer it over [name]Miles[/name].
[name]Montague[/name]–a bit…too much…for me. It’s interesting though.
[name]Moss[/name]–eh. NMS.
[name]Moses[/name]–again…a bit too much for me.
[name]McKinley[/name]–I like the idea of this…but I doubt SO will go for it.
[name]Maddox[/name]–On the fence
[name]Magnus[/name]–nms…all I hear is the [name]Angus[/name] part…and think of beef.
[name]Maguire[/name] (nn [name]Mac[/name]?)–Neat. SO would probably like this better than [name]McKinley[/name].
[name]Marius[/name]–I’ve actually never heard of this. Prn [name]Mare[/name]-EE-us or [name]MAR[/name]-ee-us?
[name]Meyer[/name]–The [name]Oscar[/name] [name]Mayer[/name] bologna song is the only thing that pops in my brain.
[name]Merritt[/name]–I don’t care for this.
[name]Merrick[/name]/[name]Marek[/name]–I quite like [name]Merrick[/name]. SO’s bff is [name]Derek[/name]…too similar?
[name]Mercer[/name]–I think this is interesting. (I like [name]Spencer[/name] better though).
[name]Miller[/name]–no. (it is the LN of my mothers husband…he and I don’t exactly get along).
[name]Monroe[/name]/[name]Munro[/name]–IDK. I think it’s neat…nn [name]Roe[/name] is cool. But it feels feminine to me (I think because of [name]Marily[/name] [name]Monroe[/name])
[name]Murphy[/name]–interesting but out.
[name]Murray[/name]–nms
[name]Malik[/name]–a bit too ethinc for me…especially with my daughters names.
[name]Myron[/name]–too old school
[name]Malcolm[/name]–I like this…but I know SO will NOT be on board.
[name]Marcel[/name]–nms
[name]Marland[/name]–nms
[name]Morley[/name]–trying to stay away from the -ley endings (which is another stirke against Macauley).
[name]Morrisey[/name]–again

I’m sorry ladies but M names just don’t really do it for me…keep them coming if you have them though.

So basically we have [name]Mason[/name] as the front runner right now…but would it be weird since a former step-brother has the same name (he is the son of ex-step mother number 2…I’m up to 4)? Maybe I’ll have to see how my dad feels about it.

I do really like [name]Micah[/name]…but would it be weird to have a boy whose name ends with the uh sound but neither of my daughters do?

And [name]Morgan[/name] for a boy has really grown on me over the years…but would people assume [name]Morgan[/name] was my daughter and [name]Ryley[/name] was my son?

I actually like the idea of you using [name]Morgan[/name] for a boy. [name]Delaney[/name], [name]Ryley[/name], and [name]Morgan[/name] are all unisex, so when you say “I have two girls and a boy” it could be interesting to hear the guesses of which one is the boy. I would be inclined to guess [name]Morgan[/name] was the boy and that the two “ee” endings were the girls, mostly because I over-analyze sibling names and pick up on patterns like that…

[name]Mason[/name]
[name]Maverick[/name]
[name]Miles[/name]
[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Monroe[/name]

[name]Milo[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Morgan[/name],[name]Marcus[/name], is [name]Mason[/name] too popular? I like [name]Mason[/name] but I don’t know if you care about popularity.

If you went with [name]Morgan[/name] I think people could possibly question which one was the boy (assuming they knew you had 2 girls and 1 boy), so if you think that would bother you then [name]Morgan[/name] wouldn’t be a good idea. I do agree with southern.maple though and think it would work really well with [name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Ryley[/name] - and I would also assume [name]Ryley[/name] spelled that way was a girl, but maybe that’s just me.

What about [name]Marvin[/name]?

I was going to suggest [name]Marcus[/name] until everyone else suggested it and you said you didn’t like it much, but I thought I’d add that I know someone with a son [name]Marcus[/name] and they call him [name]Mac[/name] (part of the reason I thought of it for you). I love this name and it seems to sort of fall into the same category with [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Noah[/name], so maybe it wouldn’t be that tough of a sell for your hubby. I also seem to recall coming across the name Macarius, which kind of sounds like a Bible name (and might be – I’m not up on my Bible studies), a la [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Noah[/name], and it gets you the [name]Mac[/name] nickname if you want it.

Good luck!

I’ve always liked [name]Montgomery[/name] nickname [name]Montie[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name]. I also like [name]Marshall[/name].

What a lovely sentiment.
I thought of Melachi. I knew a baby named this - it was pronounced like [name]Mel[/name]-ah-key.
So cute. Good luck!
