I have my top names!

I’m not expecting or anything, I just wanted to see what you think of my list. I love vintage, classic names which have the timeless beauty that a made up name wouldn’t have. I’m not mad about names which are really unusual or out there. I also love Irish names.

Here it is, please tell me what you think or any other suggestions.

[name]Maeve[/name]

[name]Teagan[/name]
[name]Rebecca[/name] nn [name]Becca[/name]
[name]Lynsey[/name]
[name]Esther[/name]

I like [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Ruby[/name] (my mum’s name), [name]Madeleine[/name] & [name]Amelia[/name] from your list!
What about some of these names
[name]Maude[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]

Thanks for your post! I love Violet, [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name]. Brilliant suggestions though

[name]Ruby[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Esther[/name]- these are all beautiful names!

[name]Ava[/name], [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Leah[/name]- NMS, but they’re still lovely classics.

[name]Teagan[/name], [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Lynsey[/name]- I like these ones the least, only because they seem quite dated to the 80s/90s to me.

Others with a classic vibe: [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Libby[/name], [name]Martha[/name], [name]Laura[/name], [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Miriam[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Georgina[/name], [name]Molly[/name], [name]Jessie[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Nell[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Anna[/name]

Coming from [name]Ireland[/name], you probably know more about Irish names than me, but some nice ones are: [name]Eileen[/name], [name]Saoirse[/name], [name]Caitlin[/name], Brigdet, [name]Erin[/name], [name]Aoife[/name], [name]Ciara[/name], [name]Maura[/name]

Aw, I smiled at [name]Lynsey[/name]. I’ve always liked that name with that spelling.

I also like [name]Ava[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Rebecca[/name] (though I prefer [name]Rebekah[/name]), [name]Amelia[/name], and [name]Leah[/name]. Oh, and [name]Madeleine[/name].

[name]Love[/name] [name]Ava[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name], and [name]Esther[/name]. Would you nickname any of them? I love [name]Estee[/name] and [name]Essie[/name] for [name]Esther[/name].

Thanks for the replies!

jsavasatano,I hate nicknames for the name [name]Esther[/name]. I think It’s too beautiful for a nick name. I would definitely nickname [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Maddie[/name], sorry I forgot to put that there.

East93,I agree! I hate the spellings [name]Lindsey[/name] or [name]Lyndsey[/name], But I prefer the spelling [name]Rebecca[/name]. Thanks for replying!

Charlieandperry1, I can’t use [name]Anna[/name] as it is my name. I love [name]Eleanor[/name],[name]Laura[/name], [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Cora[/name].I’ve had some bad experiences with Erins, Caitlins and Saoirses so I won’t use them. From your Irish list I like [name]Ciara[/name] and [name]Aoife[/name]. Thanks for your suggestions!

I like [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Esther[/name].
I don’t think nicknames are ever necessary, I don’t like them very much. I almost always call people by their full first name anne no one has ever used nicknames with me. So I wouldn’t worry about that for [name]Esther[/name]

[name]Ava[/name]- So glamorous and old Hollywood. Is popularity an issue for you?
[name]Maeve[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this! It’s so cute and probably one of the only Irish names that won’t get mispronounced!
[name]Leah[/name]- I’ve always loved this name. It has such a great history.
[name]Ruby[/name]- This ones too trendy for my taste.
[name]Pearl[/name]- Very pretty, very vintage.
[name]Madeleine[/name]- I’ve always liked this name but I really don’t like [name]Maddie[/name].
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]- I love this name and the nickname option. If she’s girly, [name]Charlotte[/name]. If she’s a tomboy, [name]Charlie[/name].
[name]Amelia[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name]- I’m not a huge fan of [name]Amelia[/name] but I adore [name]Millie[/name]!
[name]Teagan[/name]- Cute but it doesn’t hold that timeless beauty aspect you’re looking for in my opinion.
[name]Rebecca[/name] nn [name]Becca[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this. I never see it used anymore. [name]Becca[/name] is so refreshing among all the [name]Bella[/name]'s.
[name]Lynsey[/name]- This seems way too trendy and she would probably always get her name spelled wrong
[name]Esther[/name]- Beautiful, great history and meaning!

Keep:

[name]Pearl[/name]

[name]Hi[/name] saralouise thanks for your post! Here’s what I think of your suggestions.

[name]Susannah[/name] - not mad
[name]Alice[/name] - is nice but a bit overused
[name]Beatrice[/name]-I love this name
[name]Delilah[/name] - this name always makes me think of the plain white tees and I hate them
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] I love all three of these
[name]Juliet[/name] makes me think of the depressing [name]Shakespeare[/name] play.
[name]Nora[/name] I like this name
[name]Sophia[/name] so overused I think it’s lost it’s beauty
I like all on your Irish list but [name]Deirdre[/name] I had a bad experience with a [name]Deirdre[/name]

Thanks for your suggestions!!

My favorites:

[name]Ava[/name] - secretly love this one. Simple, understated, gorgeous, but also unbelievably popular.
[name]Maeve[/name] - love
[name]Pearl[/name] - love as a middle name
[name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name]
[name]Esther[/name] - so ready for this one to come back. love it.

Honestly, I love ALL of them except for [name]Teagan[/name]. You’ve got some beautiful name selections!

[name]Ava[/name] – A safe, predictable, some-what boring options
[name]Maeve[/name] – Somewhat cute, though it strikes me as old
[name]Leah[/name] – A nice, cute sound to it. Plain, but if you like plain it’s great!
[name]Ruby[/name] – Cute on a baby, not on a middle-aged women
[name]Pearl[/name] – Nice middle, not a nice first
[name]Madeleine[/name] – I like this one
[name]Charlotte[/name] – [name]Way[/name] too overused
[name]Amelia[/name] – Nice and romantic sounding
[name]Teagan[/name] – [name]Way[/name] to masculine to me
[name]Rebecca[/name] – Too dated
[name]Lynsey[/name] – [name]Lindsey[/name] and it’s variants are too dated. I hate this spelling, though
[name]Esther[/name] – [name]Way[/name] too old.

[name]Ava[/name] - too common for me, what about [name]Eva[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] - like, may be hard to pronounce for some
[name]Leah[/name] - really like
[name]Ruby[/name] - cute
[name]Pearl[/name] - I don’t love
[name]Madeleine[/name] - Nah
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] - Like
[name]Amelia[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name] - Like
[name]Teagan[/name] - nope
[name]Rebecca[/name] nn [name]Becca[/name] - umm, too 90’s like [name]Rachel[/name] (my name, haha)
[name]Lynsey[/name] - Hate the spelling… [name]Lindsey[/name] is better
[name]Esther[/name] - nah

My moms name is [name]Esther[/name] and I think it’s lovely! She has never went by a nickname other than occasionally “[name]Queenie[/name]” as in [name]Queen[/name] [name]Esther[/name] in the Bible

I like the names in this order:

#1 - [name]Rebecca[/name] - A totally elegant, timeless classic in my book! [name]Love[/name] it!
#2 - [name]Charlotte[/name] - sophisticated charm - love it!
#3 - [name]Ava[/name] - so clean and pretty
#4 - [name]Maeve[/name] - beautiful and underused
#5 - [name]Pearl[/name] - Very sweet. I especially love it as a mn option
#6 - [name]Leah[/name] - understated and lovely
#7 - [name]Madeleine[/name] - A fine classic
#8 - [name]Ruby[/name] - I’ve warmed up to [name]Ruby[/name] a lot this past year
#9 - [name]Esther[/name] - Not bad, I think it could grow on me.
#10 - [name]Lynsey[/name] - Not my style, but I can see the appeal
#11 - [name]Amelia[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name] - [name]Amelia[/name] is not my style, but nn [name]Millie[/name] is cute.
#12 - [name]Teagan[/name] - Not my style

In a similar style, I’d suggest [name]Eve[/name] or [name]Eva[/name].

[name]Hi[/name] Berries,
Glamatomic and everwaiting what do you not like about [name]Teagan[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you think I should ever use it?

jess0044, I don’t like either [name]Eve[/name] or [name]Eva[/name]! I know it’s so strange as they’re so similar to [name]Ava[/name] but I think [name]Ava[/name] has much more beauty. I instantly think [name]Ava[/name] [name]Gardner[/name] when I hear it and she was so beautiful.I know it sounds unlikely but i’ve never met one single [name]Charlotte[/name] in my whole life, so it’s not over used in my area.

Bugby003, I think [name]Queenie[/name] is a nice nickname for [name]Esther[/name], but I think [name]Esther[/name] is so beautiful on it’s own it doesn’t need a nickname.

Keep posting!!

[name]Ava[/name] - NMS, it seems to be really popular
[name]Maeve[/name] - [name]Adore[/name] it, simple and stunning
[name]Leah[/name] - Pretty, it’s not my favorite from your list
[name]Ruby[/name] - Great name, classic
[name]Pearl[/name] - Classic and simple
[name]Madeleine[/name] - Probably my favorite from your list, this name is so beautiful
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] - I love [name]Charlotte[/name], it is just super popular right now
[name]Amelia[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name] - [name]Amelia[/name] is getting really popular too, but I think the nn [name]Millie[/name] is awesome!
[name]Teagan[/name] - Cute
[name]Rebecca[/name] nn [name]Becca[/name] - classic and pretty
[name]Lynsey[/name] -NMS
[name]Esther[/name] - NMS

The reason I am not crazy about [name]Teagan[/name] is that it strikes me as rather cutesy and not very feminine. In naming my kids, I found myself leaning towards names with some history to them instead of something trendy. That is just my personal preference. There are definitely much worse names than [name]Teagan[/name] out there - imo. I like it better than a lot of unisex names, for example. As for the question of whether you should ever use it… if you and your future child’s father both really [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Teagan[/name] and it feels right for your child, than yes, by all means you SHOULD use it!

[name]Ava[/name] - pretty, but soooo popular now (#5 in 2012, I think?). i think eva is a nice, less common alternative
[name]Maeve[/name] - i know many people are into this name…personally, i just don’t like it, though
[name]Leah[/name] - very nice and classic
[name]Ruby[/name] - love it, but getting popular
[name]Pearl[/name] - i really like it as a middle name
[name]Madeleine[/name] - gorgeous! so long as it’s pronounced with a -line, not -lin, ending
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] - i like it okay…prefer the nn [name]Lottie[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name] - love both the full and nickname
[name]Teagan[/name] - not at all timeless, vintage, or classic! strongly dislike
[name]Rebecca[/name] nn [name]Becca[/name] - it’s okay. nothing wrong with it
[name]Lynsey[/name] - awful spelling on an outdated sort of name.
[name]Esther[/name] - not my style, but ok
